Quote  |  Reply

Hi everyone! I'm going on an amazing caribbean vacation with a group from school at the end of this summer and I'm really motivated to lose those pounds before its time to leave. I'm looking for some amazing people to join me! Let's motivate each other :) What are your goals and reasons? Does anyone have any workout plans or tips to share?

These are my stats:

Height: 5'5

Starting weight: 195

Current Weight: 185

Goal weight by September 1: 165-170

Ultimate goal: 140-150

Hi I would love to join! (This is a group, right?)

Height: 5'9

Starting Weight: 275

Current Weight: 226

Goal Weight by September 1: 210

Ultimate Goal: 150-160

I have been counting calories and doing on and off exercise, but I haven't exercised regularly in about 4 months. So I am starting Couch to 5k tomorrow (no matter what!!!) in hopes of helping the weight go down a bit faster. I have averaged 3lbs a month for this year, which isn't bad but... I know I can do better. My reason for losing weight is because I'm 23 and tired of being overweight. I want to shop in Forever 21 and look hot in a bikini. Yup, pure vanity.

I'm going on vacation next week and could REALLY need a good plan... Will follow this Cool

I plan to portion control like I've done for several months now, keep in mind that moving more is better and will try not to fall into the vacation state of leisurely living. Vacation is also about feeling good and I won't feel good if I let myself get sluggish.. I usually help my family pack and clean and cook and organize and it'll keep me moving!

I'm just tired of making stupid excuses for myself why I'm overweight and lazy. I've come far losing weight on my own and have done several changes to my lifestyle, eating habits and mindset. The biggest motivation has been that I've wanted to do this for so long and I'm finally only a few pounds away from what I believe to be my ideal weight.

My first goal for the summer is to lose a little bit instead of gaining during my vacation - I will be happy just maintaining though. Hence the careful plan of losing maybe 5 lbs by September 1st.

Height: 5'5

Starting weight: 215? in Sept 2009, 165 of February 2011

Current Weight: 147

Goal weight by September 1: 142 (careful plan)

Ultimate goal: 132-135ish, hopefully by the end of November this year.

Edited a little bit..

queensheba,

you've lost soo much weight already! thats awesome! i definitely agree on the vanity aspect of losing weight :) i would love to look hot in a bikini as well. sometimes i tend to find myself online shopping as pre-workout encouragement :) the lightest ive ever been is about 165 which was better than right now, but i still wasn't confident with my self. I hope that changes for me this time around. I can't wait to hear how things go with you !

maurinah,

i'm scared i might go off track on my vacation as well. sounds like you have a pretty solid plan thats been working well for you though! thats very impressive and encouraging! i would love to progress my weight loss like you are!

I am definitely in too. Fell off the wagon last month... Ready to jump back on.

This week, I am trying a new "diet" book that my mom gave me for my birthday: The Belly Fat Cure. My belly is one of my problem areas, so I figured it was worth a try. Basically the jist is limiting sugar intake to 15g a day and having no more than 6 servings of carbs per day.

I also started exercising again last week, so I want to continue that too!

As far as goals and reasons, I know my boyfriend is planning to propose to me, and I want to look my best and be my healthiest. :)

Height: 5'5

Starting weight: 203

Current Weight: 178.5

Goal weight by September 1: 165

Ultimate goal: 125-135

Hi!  May I join?  I have my wedding August 27th and I want to look amazing (is it mean that I want to be prettier than my pretty, skinny sister who's a bridesmaid?).

Kari89bear I like your Belly Fat Cure, I might try to limit my sugar intake and carb intake too!  6 servings of carbs seems really low (I eat a lot of carbs) but I'll join in on limiting!  Also, congrats on your impending engagement! :)

Height: 5'1

Starting weight: 132

Current weight: 130.5 (I haven't weighed in while, though.  4th of July REALLY messed me up)

Goal weight: 125 but with the muscle and endurance level I used had.

I'm in the military, so being skinny and weak doesn't do me much good.  I need to run and have muscle.  I don't mind the scale telling me I'm a little heavier if I know I've got muscle behind that.  I'm more interested in getting my 26 inch waist back!

I'm joining, too!  I've been terribly lax with everything since March.  I sustained a concussion and couldn't work out for 7 weeks, so then everything started to slide.  In May my concussion symptoms were much improved.  I was given the green light by the doctor to start out slowly...of course I went nuts and set myself back some.  Luckily, I was really good with what I was eating and didn't gain any weight.  Now, I'm hardly exercising (I just can't get motivated) and I've gained 3 lbs in the last two weeks!  I hate this!

Height: 5'7''

Current weight: 129.4

Goal Weight by September 1: 120

Ultimate Goal: 118

Hello,

I'd like to join!  I'm going on vacation as well in August.  I'm travelling to Hong Kong, then to Malaysia for 2 weeks.  It's very exciting for me as this is by far the most exotic places i have ever been to!  I don't want to be a typical overweight North American when I'm over there!  And I don't want to resent every picture I see of myself.  So I'm in :)

My plan is this:  Eat 1400 calories a day, treadmill run 5x a week for 30 min.

Height: 5'9

Starting weight: 191

Current Weight: 179

Goal weight by September 1: 165

Ultimate goal: 150

Hope you don't mind if I join in too. ;) I want to be able to fit into some of the summer shorts that my mother bought for me. That, and the absolutely beautiful dress that already looks good on me, but would look even better if I lost some weight.

Height: 5'5

Starting Weight: 174lbs

Current Weight: 167.5lbs

Goal Weight by September 1: 154 - 158.7lbs

Ultimate Goal: 132 - 139lbs

I hope to lose around 13.5lbs during this summer. I don't think it's even possible, but I would like to try without overdoing it.

What I do during the summer is that, since it's vacation time for me, I wake up late and therefore only eat two medium-sized meals per day, plus snacks. I also exercise for at least one hour every day. I avoid junk food and outside food whenever possible, and even try and stay away from prepackaged food.

I've lost 2lbs in 1.5 weeks, so I'm hoping that by the end of this summer, my goal weight for September 1 will become possible.

Oh, and as a tip: Always don't take short cuts. When you have two trash bins, one further away from the other, go to the one further away.

shsassy: You're traveling to Hong Kong? I live in Hong Kong! Popular places to visit are almost always department store areas - Central, Tai Koo, etc. Other popular places include The Peak and Mong Kok. If you're exploring The Peak, they have a mountain hike that would be great exercise if you're up for it. ;)

Hi ikiibaii,

Yes I am going to Hong Kong!  I'm travelling there on August 18th.  Unfortunately I only have 2 days to spend in Hong Kong, but I'm hoping I can do a majority of things I want to see.  These are the main things I want to see:

- The peak

- Tian Tan Buddha

- Markets (Temple Street and Stanley)

- Try Dim sum

- Pacific Place

Do you have any reccommendations for me?  I am staying on Bonham Strand near Hollywood Road Park.  I am very open to suggestions especially from those that live there :)

I would like to jump on board as well! I need to get back on the wagon. I have been making excuses because of stress and now that my divorce is final its time to start working on the next set of changes in my life. It is just time.  Plus I have a jewelry show to be at in September and I would like to look a little better than I do now :P

I think I weigh about 235, but I'm not sure I will weigh myself in the morning to get started.

my September 1st goal is 16 lbs lost, 2 lbs a week.

My goal weight is 140, I'm 5'2 so I have a long way to go.

My plans are to eat 1750 calories a day. I'm going to start by adding 20 minutes of exercise and building from there. Walking, Wii, pilates, mix it up so that I don't get bored. I have an issue with that. I'm not going to count walking the dog though :P I'm going to build up more exercise till I am managing about an hour a day.

I am up for the challenge I would like to loose about 15-20 pounds by September 1st I have been exercising and counting calories so this seems like a good time to challenge myself.

Current weight 226

Goal Weight by September 1st

Hey! I'll join! :)

I'm going to London for three weeks on July 19. I'd like to get to 130 by then but...well, we'll see. While I'm there I would love it if I could continue to lose weight, but I'm not going to restrict myself from enjoying different foods and experiences just because I want to lose weight. If I maintain, that'd be awesome. I just don't want to gain! So...

Height: 5'6''

Starting Weight (this time around): 146 lbs

Current Weight: 134 lbs

Goal Weight by September 1/Ultimate Goal: 125 lbs

I've never been confident or comfortable in my body so I'm hoping that diet and exercise with more strength training will help with that. (I once dieted by restricting to starvation levels and got down to 118...I was skinny which was nice but looked sickly. So this time I'm focusing on doing it the health way so that it will stay that way and I'll actually like the end results!)

Hi everyone, So happy to hear all of your wonderful goals! It looks like a lot of us have some nice travel plans too :)

Karibear- I think I need to focus on limiting my sugar intake too, it kind of sucks how even MILK has so much sugar in it. I may unknowingly consume way more sugar than I should be. please let us know how the book diet plan goes!

shsassy- your vacation sounds amazing! Our weight loss goals are abouttt the same, i can't wait to see our success!

iikibai- i have the same exact pattern.. up till 4am.. asleep till 1pm and then running off to class. its a horrible pattern because i barely work out and it hinders my progress :( I'm trying to get out of the pattern though and schedule more am workouts!

katspell- im going through something similar. i have just gone through quite a bad breakup which is what started me on my weight loss plans.. it was just time to be a better me, for only myself! Sounds like you have a good plan, can't wait to hear how things go!

** So for our first week - I would like everyone to weigh in again next Monday (the 11th)! Hopefully this will encourage us to work out for the rest of the week and come back with results :)

Keep me updated on how your week is going and any tips/results you'd like to share with all of us!!

I'd love to join!  Hallllllllp!  I'm 31 years old.

Height: 5'1''

Starting & Current Weight: 128 lbs

Goal Weight by September 1: 120 lbs

Ultimate Goal: 110 lbs

I've been 'off the wagon' for almost 2 years now after losing 30 pounds (calorie counting only, no excersise). I got down to about 105 lbs & people were saying I was rail thin & gross so I started eating more & didn't stop   I'm an emotional & over eater.

I have a vacation coming up September 9th & want to look amazing for my exceedingly hawt 22 year old boyfriend!

I joined a gym for the first time in 10 years this week so I think that will help with my goals!

My main problems are at night - I eat at least 50% of my food after 9pm! AHHH!

I'm in Canada & seriously need someone to like, text me every hour to tell me to tape up the fridge & keep it closed!

@fmjess- I have a similar problem... after I get home from work I'm ravenous!  I'm 5'1 too but I weight a little more than you... I don't think I've ever been 110 but I'd dream of it! lol

Congrats on taking the step by joining a gym!  It helps if the gym has a TV attached to the equipment, you get to watch shows and your mind is occupied.  Maybe I'll try taping my fridge closed a night... that might help!

Best of luck everyone, see you Monday!

shsassy: One day after my birthday then. ;) And those are very good things to see/try. Well, honestly, I don't travel around Hong Kong a lot - but I know where a lot of people gather. They tend to gather at places like Victoria Peak, Central, Mong Kok, etc. Honestly, you already have a very good travel plan - all I'd like to add is, perhaps visit an island? There's Lantau and Lamma Island - then there's also Macau, which isn't exactly an island, but ah well - still a good visit none the less.

naznaz90: I always manage to work out for at least one hour a day, so I'm pretty good. ;) Perhaps right after your class you could schedule a work out? It'd make you tired earlier, which would then help you sleep earlier.

Hey, I've been counting calories on this site since late April, and I'm starting to find my motivation wane.  I was exercising six days a week for at least an hour, and I now it's hard to get up and manage it in the morning.  I've lost 18 lbs so far and I know that the exercise really helped with that.  I'm thinking that a summer goal (that pushes my limits) is what I need.

Height 5'6"

CW: 192

Goal for September 1st: 180

I was just wondering how we might help each other stay on track?  Are we going to weigh in?  Just talk about things?

Well done on the weight loss so far ladies! I'd like to join in too!

Height: 5'5.5

GW (for Sept 1st): 136

I'm just starting my weight loss routine after steadily gaining over the last 2 years. I'm trying to cut junk from my diet, but the main change I'm making is focussing on exercise which I've never really done before. I've been going to the gym 4 times a week for an hour and yesterday started Couch to 5K. I always start off with such good intentions but run out of steam so hopefully CC can keep me motivated to keep going.

Got place for one more? I'd love to join this group too :)

I've been on CC for a very long time and managed to drop from my starting weight of 190 to nearly 170 last october. But then I lost my motivation due to various reasons and the weight slowly kept creeping up till at 188 (a few weeks ago) I decided to start all over again. Also, I have to go to New York in october and I'd love to have lost some weight before my trip.

@naznaz: My stats and goal weights are very similar to yours...

@queensheba: It's vanity for me too. I just want to look hot! Wink

@maurinah: Wow!! I'm in awe!

@karibear: I've never heard of this book (will google immediately) so keep us in the loop. I'm trying to limit my carbs but it's not been easy for me.

@fmjess: Me too! Most of my eating takes place after 9pm and its somethng id really like to change.

@target & dstinemetz (& anyone that eats at night) - what can we do to stop this?

I was on track yesterday - then ate some popcorn & a nutragrain bar for no reason at 11pm.... WTF?

They do have TV's at my gym which is cool, I'm bring headphones tonight! Also I'm planning to do a lot of the classes.

@shooney, wow sounds just like my story! Could it be the running that gets you slowed? I started exercise too but would quit if I only did running. What about something cardio but not really running, like 'zumba'?

Wanted to mention you USA people are lucky, so many yogurt flavours! I'm eating my last 'light & fit' from my Buffalo trip & don't want to go back to our yucky boring stuff ;)
