No Support

I want to lose around 15-20 pounds, I still live at home, I have no support from my family, none, zero, zilch. it just makes it that much harder to stick to a diet and exercise routine when your family acts like you're nuts, almost feel resentment for wanting to lose a few pounds. O.o

I'm 5' 11" and 157 pounds

any wise words? :]

You don't need to lose any weight. Secondly, you're 16 and still growing.

Are you doing any exercise?  i would say if you are not happy with your body, you should work on that and set some type of fitness goal rather than try to lose weight.  Start a lifting program or if you don't have equip available, check out the fitness tab at the top of the page for equipment less workouts or make up your own weights with filled milk jugs or a backpack filled with books, etc.  Try to eat as healthy as you can with what you have to work with.

@Tina

I exercise on an elliptical 5-6 times a week for 30 minutes, it says I burn between 400-450 calories, I don't know if it's accurate though. I've recently started swimming (truly swimming) for about 15 minutes, I'm so beat after doing laps in our pool! after dinner I walk around about 30 minutes.

You're right, I need to eat as healthy as I can with what I have.

Thanks Tina!

I know I don't need to lose any weight, I'd just like to lose a little. I sure hope I don't grow anymore, standing at almost 6' barefoot lol.

Sounds like you are off to a good start.

Start adding some body weight exercise to your routine, push ups, pull up's, planks, squats, etc and I think you will start to see a bigger difference in your shape.  Good luck!  :)

You do not need to lose weight, if you feel like you are skinny fat (skinny and flabby, not enough muscle) then just start lifting.  I know i have complained about my weight in the past (i am 5'3 and used to weigh 110 but now 116ish) but I've noticed my calves are an inch bigger and in the past month i've lost an inch on my breasts and the spare tire I gained (right below my belly button lol) but not my waist (there's nothing there to lose...except muscle.  If anything i gained 3 inches there from strength exersizes and im ok with it).  Muscle takes up less space then fat, so throw away the scale and pull out the tape measure.

Thank you, I will start doing some body weight exercise... TODAY!! :D

thanks again, I appreciate it.

I don't feel flabby, I haven't lost any weight yet, I'm the highest I've ever been right now, last year I was 142-ish :/. I want to weigh myself everyday, but I know it affects whether I have a good day or not, and that's crazy :P. I need to buy a tape measure. true true, muscle weighs more than fat, well not really it just takes up a whole lot less space per pound lol, I say a whole lot, I read it takes up 15% less space than fat, idk though. I will definitely start body weight exercise :).

thanks!
