Teetering on the edge

Quote  |  Reply

Ok, so I feel like I'm about to fall off the wagon and give up again. I'm on my 3rd week of calorie counting and 30 Day Shred. And even though I've lost an inch around my waist and half an inch around my hips, I have still to lose weight!! I think I might have overestimated my burn meter so I lowered it to light activity. Hopefully, that will help? My husband says I look skinnier, but I just don't see it. I guess I should stop weighing myself everyday, but I can't help it. LOL And averaging out the past two weeks, I've only lost. 2 oz. It's so...ugh.

Hey sugar hang in there! You lost an INCH that is huge..congratz. Sometimes we lose inches before we see the weight come off on a scale. Remember weight fluctuates...Smile

Honestly, what difference does the number on the scale make?  Unless you're in a "biggest Loser" type contest, it makes absolutely no difference.

If you are losing inches and as a by-product getting more fit, isn't  that the important thing?  Losing weight is about being healthyier and looking better, not a scale number.

And..... if you are losing inches, the weight on the scale will eventually start dropping as well.

Step away from the scale!  The daily weighing will drive you to insanity.  It could just be taking your body to decide to drop lbs.  Don't worry about it.

Right now just concentrate on eating healthy and exercise.  The rest will take care of itself.  Be patient :)

Don't give up! An inch is ace for 3 weeks. In 3 weeks time you could lose another inch.

Scales can be evil when your loosing. I'm not weighing myself for a week or two, not even on the Wii Fit. Hopefully by then I'll have a nice surprise.

I have the same habit...weighing myself everyday.  Somehow I convinced myself that it keeps me honost, but it really makes me crazy.  It's great when I'm seeing my weight gradually drop but in a matter of 2 days I can pack it back on.  Once a week is really the most you should weigh yourself.

Thanks, everyone, for the encouragement! I know I need to stay away from that darn scale. LOL I'll be up in the snow this weekend with no scales in the vicinity, so hopefully, that will cure me on this insane desire to weigh myself every day. LOL

lynneliz17, I know what you mean. One day, I weighed myself and was so happy that I lost 3 lbs, only to put it back on plus 2 more the next day!! LOL

Weeks three and four have always been the hardest weeks for me. After that, it becomes more habit to me than anything else. Just stick with it, it will get better!

Make sure you are getting plenty of water. It's really easy to underestimate the amount of water you need, and if you aren't getting enough your body will retain it. When my mother started her diet, I kid you not she lost 10 pounds of water weight! To me, that's extreme, and I wouldn't expect that kind of drop off, but it gives you an idea.

As for the scale, I find that while weighing myself daily can get frustrating, it keeps me on track. If I lost a couple ounces, that's great. If I gain a pound, there's a reason for it, mostly to do with water weight.

Allergy Remedies
Is It Possible to Go Natural?
The side effects of allergy medications keep some people from using them. Natural remedies can be a great alternative, but some are more effective than others.
