Time to take care of unfinished buisness!!!

I could never really put into words how i felt 3 years ago... My fiancee walks out and here i was thinking we'd always be together. After losing her i became alot more self conscious about my weight. She had always looked past it but would the rest of the world? For the thousandth time my doctor told me the weight was gonna cause health risks. I eventually started hating everything about myself... i started drinking heavily to erase the pain but it would always came back. One night a few close friends invited me out to the bar to go watch UFC 100. That night changed my life... I remeber sitting there watching the countdown and being totally amazed by those guys dedication and discipline. I wanted that at all costs! I needed to bring structure to my life and i was ready to be happy in my own skin again.  In 2 years time i went from 400+ to 249 lbs. Ive had two fights and im happy to say i am 2-0 :). Life was great, better than it had been in soooo long. Then disaster struck... due to financial problems i couldnt pay for training. It really depressed me and It gave me alot of free time which i unfortunately spent partying. In a years time ive found myself back up to 286. What really kills me is to know that i inspired alot of people close to me to lose weight and now im gaining the weight back. Today im continuing my journey to 185! No stopping, no giving up, no excuses! Im going to try to join a new mma gym where im gonna study primarily Jiu jitsu. My goal is to not only hit 185 but to go to a grappling tourney here in texas and win gold :)! Every wednesday ill be logging my weight and keeping everyone up to date on my training status. To those who took the time out to read my little story feel free to join me on my journey!!!

400+ to 185! Way to go! Do post some photos of your gradual change.

I weigh in twice a month. Can I join?

Way to go! your story really made me think. I would like to hear more about your success.

I had my own heart braking experience and from then on I just could not care. But eventually I realized that just stuffing my face with food will never take the inner pain away.

My journey started last year with 169 kg (372 pounds). So far I have lost 23 kg (over 50 lbs). Last week I joind the "50 pound weight loss club" and that felt very good indeed. I still have a lot more to loose and CC is very useful. There are so many motivational stories to read - and if you guys out there can do it, so can I !

Good luck, you can do this!!  I will be tagging this thread so I can follow your progress :)

Good for you. You had that moment of clarity, as I once did, and that became your catalyst. The important thing was that, despite your setbacks, you never lost sight of your goal. How easy would it have been to sit back and say, "well I proved I did it...my job is done"?

The only caution I would point out is to not put all your eggs in one basket, regarding allowing your MMA successes and failures (and associated issues - i.e. financial) to completely dictate your weight loss future. Make sure your eating habits lend themselves to weight loss and/or healthy eating, so you have a "fall back" of sorts, should adversity strike again...

Thanks for sharing your story, and keep us informed as to how things are going. Stories like yours are especially (but not exclusively) meaningful and affective to those who seek the motivation to start somewhere, somehow.
