Wanting to give into my cravings

Quote  |  Reply

I have been on my diet for a week now, I have lost 10.4 pounds, I'm excited about that, but my cravings are insane. I miss eating whatever I want when I want to. my height is 5'9, my goal weight is 165, my starting weight 213. Please if anyone has advice on dealing with craving, that would be great!

Reason: Calorie Count prohibits the use of starvation diets and use of HCG.

So...I had my calories right where I wanted them today. I'm about to go to bed. About half an hour ago, i caved and ate a spoonful of peanut butter, an apple, and a 90-cal cereal bar. I feel like crap and it's going to be hard to get to sleep now.

Hopefully, that's given you at least slight motivation to not give in. :/ You'll feel like 5h1t.

You're sure that you're not restricting your calories too much, right? That can sometimes account for cravings...or you can be like me and just have terrible planning skills and eat your last meal of the day too early. :P

You're not craving, you're hungry! You're eating 500 calories a day!! That's tiny!

I just think that you'll find it much easier to lose weight and keep it off if you up your calories to what any person needs to survive on a day to day basis, i.e. 1200 but most likely more.

Carrying on this way is never healthy, it'll lead to you eventually binging and the undoing all the weight loss. Please consider calorie counting instead of embracing restrictive fad diets, which never work in the long run. I've tried a great number of them myself and calorie counting is really the only thing I've found which works for me.

Here is my encouragement:

You do NOT have to starve yourself to lose weight.

You do NOT have to take a hormone which has been proven to be ineffective for weight loss - the only thing that causes weight loss in the hcg diet is the starvation diet that is associated with it.  In fact, the science literature shows that there isn't a single shred of evidence in favor of it and a heck of a lot against it

You do NOT have to take a hormone for which the FDA and the FTC started a joint enforcement action (see below)

You do NOT have to follow a diet that was popularized by Kevin Trudeau, who was subsequently fined $5 million dollars and banned from infomercials for making fraudulent claims.

If you share your stats (age, weight, height, gender, activity level) people can help you find a healthy way to lose weight, without resorting to starvation diets and padding the pockets of frauds.

FDA Action on HCG Products

I apologies if it seemed like I was in any way attacking you over your weight loss approach.

It's great that you've lost 10lbs so far, but it's because you're eating 1/3 of the rule of thumb calorie intake for someone trying to lose weight. Don't you think if there was a miracle drug which induced weight loss we'd all be on it? If it sounds too good to be true...guess what....

My method is to have a little portion of whatever it is I desire. If a serving is X calories, I get a little pep in my step by indulging and being able to log half or less of that number. If I don't eat what I desire, I tend to think about it until I end up gobbling it down.

Also, if there's a way for me to make the treat healthier I do. Avocado, milk, sugar smoothie becomes avocado, skim milk, and honey smoothie. As long as I stay within my caloric limit, it's ok for me. On days when I'm ravenous though, I stay away from the higher caloric items since I end up eating relatively the same volume of food per day.

Hope that helps! And, 500 calories is really restrictive. I'm imagining if I were only able to have that yogurt/honey combo I just had for breakfast--I'd cave. Good luck to you!

I reported a violation to the forum moderators, since it is strictly against CC rules to promote starvation diets, and this is exactly what you are doing. A 500 calorie diet is very unhealthy, and can have long term consequences for your body and health. Combined with hcg, I don't even know what to say... I hope you find a healthy way to lose help, but in the meantime, please do not promote it here on CC, the philosophy of which is exactly contrary to what you are posting.

And, of course you have cravings, since you are on 500 calories. You need to eat more.

You're not losing weight because of the HCG. You're losing weight because you are starving yourself. There is absolutely no reason why someone should use (sometimes fraudulent) hormones in order to lose weight unless they have been diagnosed with a medical condition (that isn't simply being overweight).

As Amethystgirl posted, the FDA has issued a statement that HCG products have not been approved and can even be harmful. What makes you think that a hormone produced by pregnant women will burn extra fat? Pregnant women's bodies lay down extra fat stores. It doesn't make sense.

Eat more and your cravings will stop.
