Is jogging really that good??????

I recently started jogging first thing in the morning before breakfast, after being pursuaded by people on here Laughing as I was worried about people seeing me jogging and making comments. But anyway I went jogging for 10 mins last Sat, Sun and Tues.. And my weight on Wednesday was 169lbs!! Dropped from 172.2lbs! Since Tuesday I havent been jogging at all as I struggle to get out of bed in the mornings at 6 to go for a jog, although I'm promising myself that next week I will go jogging in the mornings at least 5 times...

Well anyway im babbaling, but my point is I havent done any exercise this week apart from my joggin sat, sun and tuesday (bad i know, ive been lazy!) and i dropped 2.2lbs! I've been eating the same as I normally do and was stuck at 172.2lb for about 2 weeks and now 2.2lbs has just dissapeared (although now by today, friday i weigh 170.2lbs, but with no exercise I was expecting a little weight gain)... Is it the jogging that has helped or is it just a fluke? As i never really do exercise that increases my heart rate too much but noticed running does increase it to the point where my heart feels its going to pound out of my chest. I usually do trampoling, weights and billy blanks tae do. I'm 5'6" if that makes any difference lol

I'm 5ft 6 too and i know exactly what you're going through. I started running on the treadmill about 3 months ago and although i noticed a weight loss after i started, every time i stopped going for a couple of days, i still lost some weight. I kept thinking, running doesn't make me lose weight, it's just my diet!

Boy was i wrong.

I recently stopped running because i have my final exams coming up and so for the past month i haven't stepped foot in my running shoes.. as a consequence I've gained about 5-7 pounds and I feel horrible for having come so far, and then just gaining it all back. i finish my exams in 2 weeks and after that, it's back to the gym for me :D

I get an extremely high heart rate as well and i feels many times as if my limbs are going to fall off - but that just means I'm doing my body good - exercise is only good if it gets you tired and pushes you to the limit. Obviously when you first start out its advisable to take it slow, but then once you get into it, keep going and push yourself everytime. You'll see that in a couple of months you won't get so tired or have such a heart rate, which means your body is getting fitter!

Thanks for taking the time to reply.. I noticed today when I went out for a jog I wasnt getting a knackered as I was last week so thats good Laughing cheers
