what to do....my deficit is WAY too high today

Quote  |  Reply

After biking and swimming today, I am left with a deficit of about 1900 calories. I have consumed about 1200, but I burned 3100 (total).

Here is my problem, I am POOR right now, and my options for eating another 900 calories are pretty lame, imo.

I have considered making popcorn, or nachos, or having some coke and whiskey, or even making hash browns...but I am not in the mood for any of the above, not really. When I think about the salt content in all of them, I know I will regret it tomorrow when I weigh in. The coke and whiskey, well....I don't know how that will hinder my weight loss/my energy level tomorrow.

Short of pan frying a burger, these are my only (and I mean only) options. Will having such a high deficit today have a negative impact? Should I go ahead and have a burger and some hash browns?

Help me out, if you can :)

Your best bet at this late hour would be nuts.  I keep some on hand.  They're high cal, have fiber and protein.

And a beer.  Wink 1200 isn't much even without that deficit.  Check to make sure you have consumed all your nutrients (calcium, protein, carbs).

If you can stomach a burger, go ahead and have the burger and hash browns.

*note to self: get nuts :)

I guess I will go for a burger, thanks mrsdagle.

One day with a higher deficit wont do you any harm.  If it becomes a regular occurrence then it could be a problem, but once in a while ... no harm done :)

I find that on days when my deficit is too great, that I'll go have something high cal that I've been wanting.  Ice cream, a coke, chocolate, it doesn't matter.  It sounds like you could easily pull in a really decadent sudae.

morrighu, I agree :) I helped bring down my deficit a couple days last week with dark chocolate, as a treat to myself.

My problem is usually the last week of the month, when money is tight and my pantry has only EXACTLY what I need to make it to the end of the month.

I would try to budget in treats, or buy them when I have money...but I think that might cause too much temptation on my part. I suppose it keeps me healthier this way, lol.
