Anyone else have 'em?
I've had like 5 or so, and it's bugging me.
In these dreams, I know it's meat ("it" could be chicken or ribs or whatever) and I want to eat it and......I do eat it.
I've been veg for more than 5 years and I'm never going back. I don't miss the taste of meat at all. In fact, every Thanksgiving I have to stay outa the kitchen while the turkey is in the oven cuz I get nauseous at the smell.
Does anyone else get these dreams?
Wow that’s weird, I always tell people about my dreams of eating meat. Except for me it’s a nightmare. Those are my nightmares, seems pretty sad but I yell and wake up . I never mean to eat the meat, I never want to. It’s always an accident.
Why is that for some people it's just another dream and for others it's a terrible nightmare?
So your dream is telling you either that you're in a rut and want to do something a little unusual and out of the ordinary. Or, conversely, there something you're doing in your life that you know deep-down isn't really 'you' but you're surprised to find you're enjoying anyway. Are you already indulging in some 'forbidden fruit' perhaps?!
I've had meat-eating dreams. I've also had dreams where I boiled my pet fish in milk, dreams where I did things completely out of character. I don't think the random images thrown up by dreams mean anything in particular. I often dream of things I've seen during the day, and hardly noticed consciously. You probably see people eating meat around you every day.
You know what's funny, is I had dreams about eating meat and ice cream (not together =^P) when I first started being vegan. I'd always feel bad about it in my dream, and then I'd wake up and be relieved. Now I actually have dreams about eating Boca burgers and meat alternatives. What a doofus. ![]()
A few months ago I dreamed I ate an entire chicken. I felt so bad. I was filled with this dread and guilt and disappointment - I could not believe I had done such a horrible thing. Then I woke up - I was so relieved to find it was only a dream. :)
haha. last week i dreamed i ate like a whole plate of barbecue ribs. i woke up SO freaked out.
Try eating more protein (in the form of nuts or whatever) and I bet those dreams will go away. I have a feeling that you are having those dreams because your body is craving protein. Hope that helps!
haha, good to know I'm not the only one to have these dreams.
'cuz ya, I feel the guilt and disappointment and then I wake up and feel sooo relieved I didn't actually eat a carcass.
Interesting theory, gi-jane. Actually, I've been trying to save up my money, even though I really wanna buy a guitar and learn how to play it. Could that be it?
I know the feeling! But not with meat... I'm gluten intolerant and once I found out and stopped eating anything and everything with wheat/barely/rye, I started having crazy dreams about eating entire loaves of bread, boxes of donuts, pizza, anything. They were scary because they were so real. Its been several years since I gave up gluten and I rarely have those types of dreams anymore since I've settled into this g/f lifestyle.
Just give yourself time and make sure that you are getting enough protein and nutrients for a veg diet.
I'm so glad i'm not the only one having these dreams. But in my dream i'm eating a hamburger with my boyfriend and i don't realize its an acutal burger ( i thought it was a veggie burger) until almost the end and i feel sick and grossed out and i wrap it back in the wrapper and look around to see if anybody noticed what i did. I don't want to eat meat and i love my boca burgers, i think i'm just scared that somebody is gonna try and trick me into eating meat, my family and friends aren't very supportive about the whole thing.
it was really disturbing. lol
ive had dreams like that and i feel awful and go make myself puke or something...its weird...i actually woke up and thought i ate meat...went to the bathroom and puked and realized it was a dream... =[
i NEVER want meat in my body again...
[btw this is not a "pro mia" becuz i got a post deleted becuz apparently it was pro ana or pro mia...*rolls eyes*]

when i first dropped meat, i woke up in the middle fo the night from a dream that I was chewing on a living cow's leg.
it was really disturbing. lol
Lol! That is messed up, but hilarious at the same time. ![]()
This happens to me too! Not with meat though, but with sugary foods.
I cut way back on my sugar intake...which requires alot of self-control since I work at an Arabica that serves huge pastries and cookies. Anyhow, I have this reoccuring dream where I plow through the pastry case and literally devour every last chocolate chip scone and cherry danish...
Fortunately the pastries in my dream always taste better than they do in real life, and I'm somehow less inclined to actually eat them when I'm at work the next morning. It's like my body is compensating for what it's missing... It's really bizarre
i have had two of these the first one i was eating a steak. i woke up and was really relieved.
Maybe your body is trying to say it wants meat, but you have to have more will power to tell your body that it doesn't need it.
I've been a vegetarian for about 2.5 years and I love it. But recently i found my self with the taste of specific meats in my mouth, like peperoni, and picnic roast. the picnic roast one is weird because i almost never ate that. And i would have these random cravings for it when my mom cooked it.
I went to the doctor a few days later just for a check up, and I asked her, why was I having these odd cravings, and she said my body still isn't totally used to the idea of not having the flavors and meat in my body. So my taste buds were saying "hey, eat that peperoni pizza instead of the cheese". but i made a choice to be a vegetarian, and I have to just have the strength to ignore the weird cravings and eat some veggie sasuage from Morning Star [which is my favorite meat quencher]
The only dream I actually remember of this sort involves me eating a hotdog. Someone just handed me a hotdog and, without thinking, I just ate it quickly and mindlessly before remembering five minutes later that I'm a vegetarian. I think this may be from my fear of doing this in real life. I'm always worried someone will give me something and I'll just gnaw on it for a few minutes before I realize it's not vegetarian or have them te me, 'Oh, by the way...'
I've been vegetarian for two years and I don't regret it for a second. I know what you mean though. I've only had a dream of eating meat once but I was so disappointed in myself that I ate it. I was so sad. Then I woke up and it was all good. (:
My body just wants to eat meat, is all.
