In terms of overall health & well-being (not weight loss/calorie-burn) which do you think is better:

Running 3-4 miles two consecutive days or running 7 miles one day and taking a day off.  So I guess the question is whether shorter, but more frequent runs are better than longer runs with more off days.

I think you could balance it out, like do one long run and then the next day do a walk or something. I usually do the elliptical for about 30 min one day and then strength training and then the next day I do a longer time period.

I think that any exercise is great for well being, but running for too long can be damaging, so how about walking one day running the next, or you could always do an interval training routine!

Hmm, well you burn the same amount of calories whether you run or walk a mile. I know running is great for your heart, but longer walks engage your muscles more, therefore burning more fat, =0). As far as overall health, I'd take the second alternative. It's easier to maintain that schedule, than to exert 3/4 miles every day.

I would say running 7 miles one day, then taking a day off.  You should incorporate both into your weekly running routine.  The longer runs build endurance, which is excellent for your heart and overall health.  Most running schedules will recommend 1 long run a week, and 3-4 days of shorter runs.  Do you run the shorter runs at a faster pace?
