what if my calorie deficit is greater than 1000 calories does that mean I should eat more?
daily burn is 2200 but today I worked out and burned 550 calories = 2750 total cal burned
daily intake is 1545 calorie
205 calories left over in order to meet 1000 calorie deficit
If you keep doing that you'll lose weight..
But why did you eat only 1545 when your daily burn w/o exercise is 2200 ? Are you tryin to lose weight? to maintain or to gain ?
Are you using the activity log? Because while you were working out and burning 550, some of that 550 was already taken into account for your "daily burn without exercise." Use the log.
You can damage your body/metabolism by regularly having a deficit higher than 1000. Your body will look to muscle, not fat, for nutrients/proteins, etc., that are missing from your diet. Your metabolism will slow down to adapt to the perceived "famine" making it harder, not easier, to lose weight.
keep the deficit at or below 1000. Give the plan time to work (assuming you are trying to lose weight).
Good luck.
I am trying to lose weight.
I selected Sedentary and decided to manually enter the calories I burn for working out in the activity log is that right to do?
Sedentary
- At work - you work in an office
- At home - you're usually sitting, reading, typing or working at a computer
- Exercise - you don't exercise regularly
What happens if Calorie deficit is greater than 1000?
You will lose weight. Most seem to agree that it is not healthy to lose more than 1% of your body weight per week. Also the common wisdom is that guys need at least 1500 calories. So if you're less than 200 pounds you may want to rein in your weight loss a bit.
How do you feel? If the answer is "hungry", then you could afford to add some Calories.
One day of being over 1000 calorie deficit is no big deal. Just don't make a habit of it. If you want to get closer to 1000 for the day, eat a piece of whole wheat toast with a little peanut butter on it. That would be about 260 calories (1 serving of peanut butter is about 190 calories and a slice of whole wheat toast is about 70).
Good luck and don't stress over the numbers too much. Stress can slow down your weight loss.
i would also not worry. i have had deficits over 1000 (especially when i was starting my weight loss and was butning a lot just by living:) and nothing bad happened, and i have never even hit a plateau (the only times when my weight loss stalled or was reversed were the times when i ate too much)
