Camping and staying within diet!

We love to camp and of course that comes with yummy pasta salads, s'mores, beer, and chips......anyone else struggle with this?  I really want to lose weight and do OK during the week and then crumble on the weekends!  Help, any suggestions??

I camp all the time, and I think the key for me is combining camping and hiking.I try to be on the trails for at least three hours a day.  There are lots of really fun ways to incorporate exercise into a camping trip.  Also, you can bring foods that are healthier than pasta salad, smores and chips.  I know those are traditional camping foods for some people, but the trip isn't any less fun with veggie kabobs and fruit salad.  (And if you focus on getting lots of exercise all day, you can afford to splurge a little on food.)

we white water raft most weekends. that burns some calories, but most of the time i'm not rowing, so it can still be a day of sitting. i'm not a big beer drinker, but i do make sure we've got plenty of water and i've started drinking a lot of the lower calorie juices or sparkling water and juice (like izzie). i also make sure that when we camp, it's not an excuse to pig out on chips and junk food. i pack a lot of healthy stuff, fruits, veggies, a few chips with dinner. for sweets i've been brining the 100 calorie cookie packs. it is hard, but it's a lot of will power and the desire to finally loose the 15 that i can't seem too.

so i just got home from camping/fishing yesterday and i thought i was going to do sooo good! i brought lots of fruits and veggies, beef jerky, etc.... but i also brought some banana nut muffins and smores thinking that i would be able to control myself...

well that sure didnt work!!! i suggest not even bringing that stuff!! the only thing i did good on was not drinking that much beer... but i ate at least 20 smores ;/  and lotsa mini muffins :(  gained 3 pounds on the trip...

next time im only going to bring healthy stuff, cuz i cant control  myself  :)

 gl and have fun :)

i just got back from a 3 day camping trip. i did pretty good (at least i maintained current wt.)

i brought chicken breast/salmon/turkey hotdogs/portabello mushrooms to grill. whole wheat bread-fiber one cereal & non fat soy milk. also lots of fruits & veggies.

i still had a few smores. (w/ extra dark chocolate-a tiny bit better as far as calories and anti-oxidants) low fat graham crackers and mini marshmellows

i had about 2 light beers per day.

over all, i would say when shopping for the food, keep your diet in mind as you normally would.

find a way to exercise each day (swimming is great!) and splurge only on the beer and smores and you'll do fine.

good luck!!!
