Dont let me relapse...

Quote  |  Reply

My mom went to her exercise class this evening and she missed the family dinner- the leftovers were cold when she got home.. so she heated up a spaghetti-sized pot of frozen broccoli for her dinner.

its this kind of behavior that triggers me to restrict. what should i tell myself now to keep away from angry, rebellious thoughts...

oh jeez, all i can say is i completely relate- tonight asked my mother what she had for dinner, she said, "watermelon", yea.... sorry but i completely understand!

oh god, I hate days like this - the whole 'she didn't eat much, why should I?' thing. You gotta remember she probably ate earlier during the day as well, and ate last night and so on... If you've been restricting you still have eaten a lot less thaan her. I know it's tough, I still compare my eating patterns to everyone else'; I can't be of better advice because I'm a bit stuck there myself =s

hugs, I hope you feel better soon.

your first line is totally right "she didn't eat so why should i?" but the eating earlier in the day thing- no. i actually think her body is probably in starvation mode because she isnt that thin but eats nothing but fiber and fat free ice cream/sherbet.

gahh i know shes older so her metabolism isnt as fast, too, but she has a history. she couldnt have a kid for a really long time because she didnt have her period since she was underweight.. until she had hormones pumped into her..

now im the one without a period and i truly do eat rather healthy, at least compared to her. and she says her prob cant be compared to mine, "because i was so much older--an old lady" she was 27.

truly i am thankful id already eaten a nutritious dinner with normally-eating people before her episode.

Why don't you use her as an example for yourself. Does she have the perfect body? No? Then that should show you how little restricting does.

When she triggers you like that, just hop on here and look for real people who EAT and do it healthy.

While I don't have an ED or disordered eating, my mom eats VERY little. It bothers me a lot and I try to explain to her that her body is probably hanging on for dear life to any food put in her body! She doesnt eat bfast and she barely eats lunch/dinner. BUT for eating so little... she weighs 150lbs at 5'0.

I on the other hand, eat 2000 cal a day and I'm 5'8" 123lbs.

Just "not eating" will only do a body harm. Instead of lecturing your mom on her poor habits, remind yourself of the real way to stay slim and healthy. Enough food + enough exercise.
