Prevention Magazine Website

I was just on it and read an article they have on the Biggest Loser Diet. Their calculator for daily caloric needs for weightloss is current weight x 7.

At 158 pounds, they say I should eat 1,106 calories a day to lose weight.

I was surprised that Prevention Magazine and/or The Biggest Loser entity would be promoting something so contrary to what I've learned on CC. And what about the people who weigh less than me? For example, a 137 pound woman. 959 calories?! Don't get me wrong, I'd never eat this foolishly. But isn't foolishness exactly what they're promoting?!

Prevention is actually kind of lame.  They promote a lot of fads and "eat to lose" plans, mainly because that is what their audience probably wants right?  I have been shocked by some of the ridiculous plans they advocated.  Just be skeptical what you read there and double check it against reliable sources before you do it.

Magazines are full of rubbish.  Most of us here know what's really involved in losing weight and that fad dieting and crash dieting are a stupid idea but 'eat less and exercise more' doesn't sell newspapers, books, pills, potions, magic shoes....

you got my point...

And aren't the people on The Biggest Loser like 285 lbs? Which would be a normal 2000 calorie diet? Hahaha!

I struggle to eat less than 1600 calories eating healthy - I can't imagine 1106!!! O_O.....
