Hello, all. Trying to figure out what my deficit should be with the burn/eat meters. Help Please!
Welcome to CC. Below is a basic description of the two meters. As far as your deficit goes, to lose 1lb per week, you need a weekly deficit of 3500 calories (that is you need to burn 3500 calories LESS than you eat for the week). Many people divide this into 7 days and try for 500 calorie per day deficit, however that is not hard and fast as a rule. Try to never go below 1200 calories per day, and eating more (than 1200) is often more effective for weight loss than eating less.
The EAT meter TOP number shows the number of calories you have selected as your target goal (in your account settings -- you can change it)
The EAT meter BOTTOM number reflects the calories you are logging into your food log.
The BURN meter TOP number is the total estimated calories you burn based on your age, height, current weight, gender, and activity level -- if you set yourself as "sedentary" and then add in your activity calories -- those are added into the TOP number.
The BURN meter BOTTOM number shows how many calories you have burned at the moment you are looking at the meter. This number starts at 0 at midnight, reflects all the calories you burned throughout the night while sleeping, all the calories you burn just by living, and calories normally expended at your listed activity level. When (If) you add in activity minutes -- it will also reflect that added to the total.
If you stay up til midnight you can see both meters switch over to 0
just my 2 cents...i like to have around 500-600 per day and at least one day where i eat my maintence level to keep my metabolism up. you could call it a cheat day, buy doesn't have to be junk...just a little more food than usual.
So, also just wondering if I picked Sedentary what does that include in the burn meter automatically? What should I be adding?
If you pick sedentary then you would add such things as exercise or activities that you would not do on a regular basis (re-tile the kitchen, weed the garden, paint a room, etc) Sedentary describes your basic lifestyle -- and as it implies, means that during MOST of your 24 hours you are not doing a lot of moving (sleeping, desk work, computer, etc).
