too much deficit? could i go into starvation mode unintentionally?

a majority of the days this week, and others, i had taken this dog im watching on two 20 minute walks a day, along with a 15 minute bike ride to the gym, a half hour elliptical exercise and some weights, then the 15 minute bike ride back.

i had eaten about 1200 calories, but still really hungry... then the other day i decided to do a mini triathalon.  after the dog walk, i rode my bike fast fast fast to the gym, then ran 30 minutes (3 miles) and swam 76, 25 meter laps (one mile) then rode my bike back home fast.  i didnt eat that much that day (1000 calories or so) until i woke up around 3:00 am.  i am pretty anxious for this surgery on my brain im going to have done (we just scheduled it a few days ago) and i tend to wake up in the middle of the night.... but anyway- i was starving, and the past couple of days i have been noshing on good foods, but still hungry, and working about 5 hours in a community garden.

could all of this activity be stalling my weight loss? would by deficit be too high, thus causing me to go into the dreaded "starvation mode"

oh! okay, so you may be curious... 20 years old, 5'10" roughly 200lbs. (the highest weight so far, due to stress and lack of sleep and overdosing on pb and bread for the 7 months of health problems related to my september brain surgery) and im still walking the dog day and night

You are most definitely not taking in enough calories. I was doing around 1200 cal (I'm 5 feet, 110 lbs) While doing that, I gained a couple of pounds. As soon as I started taking in a more appropriate amount of calories those couple extra pounds fell off. Be sure you are eating enough whole grains for your carbs. Yes, the dreaded carbs are needed for exercise. Start upping your calories, and use the tools on this site to get a good idea of where you should be.

oh i hate starchy carbs!  i used to eat oatmeal every morning, and i was down to 160 lbs... and i avoided wheat flours.  I was basically gluten free, and it was fun.

i will start upping the carbs!

thanks for the info Jill!

I agree with Jill

I'm about your age and size: 21yrs 220lbs and 5'10 tall medium frame, and I'm eating about 1400 and I'm no where near as active as you are actually I'm pretty sedentary at the moment >.< (which should change with my upcoming internship)

I mean I don't know how much you're looking to lose, but when I recalculate my as if I'm doing moderate activity, which sounds like about what you're doing, maybe more it says I should be eating about 2050 cals a day so take in more food, cut yourself free from starvation mode and on your way to healthy weight loss.
