Welcome to CC and the New Members forum!!!

Hello!
Well, chances are that if you found your way to this forum you are a newer member of Calorie  Count or Calorie Count Plus!

Welcome!!
You have "stumbled" on a wonderful site, full of amazing (and FREE :) tools and the most supportive community you could ever hope to find.

Take a few minutes to look around.
I would suggest that you create a profile before doing anything else.
This can be as simple, or as detailed as you like :)
However, this is one of the first ways the other members get a chance to learn about you!
Then, make sure you look at the great tools, like the calorie expenditure and intake tools.
Determining what your goals are and the calorie targets needed to reach them will also help get you off to a great start.
Lastly, but CERTAINLY not least, check out the forums!
You can learn about everything from fitness to recipes, and ask questions and read about other members' as well.

If you have ANY questions, feel free to ask. The volunteer moderators, ALONG with the general community are all here to help you and to get you started and going in the right direction.

Again, welcome to Calorie-Count and good luck in your journey!

Hi, my name is Deb, I just found this site today, and I must say, im very impressed! I have already done my profile, and im really glad I have found it, I was searching through google to see how many calories are in a banana and this popped up, so glad it did!! hopefully the support will help me and my support will help others into losing weight

Good morning, fadersgirl,

I am glad you are already off to such a wonderful start!
You found our site the same way SO many others did.
You mentioned looking for calories in bananas.....
Unrelated to the site itself, but a helpful hint nonetheless, if you don't already have one, look into buying a food scale (I actually bought one at the dollar store, and it serves  my purpose wonderfully). I used to assume my banana was medium in size and entered it into the food log that way. Once I started weighing it and entering it by ounces, I discovered I had previously been grossly underestimating the calories.

This is just one of many wonderful ways CC can be customized and used to suit YOUR needs.

Check out all the forums and you will find a wealth of information.
If you have specific questions, you can use the 'search' function, choose 'forums' from the drop down menu (you can search foods, activities, recipes and forums) and type your question or topic and there is a good chance it's been asked before and  you will find your answer.
However, if you don't find it, feel free to PM (private message) me by clicking the little envelope or the "send message" link below my icon.

Again, welcome, and have a great day!

I am new on this site and reciently quit smoking. I plan on not putting on any weight and am currently trying to set up a support group with the people i work with for healtier lifestyles.
bo_,
Welcome and congratulations on quitting smoking. I have never been a smoker, but I have learned that it is a hard habit to break and I commend you on your efforts.
There are others just like you on CC.  I found this recent thread of other members who have recently quit and are looking for support and advice.
Check it out and you might find the additional, targeted support you are looking for.
Recently Quit Smoking

I think introducing your coworkers to this site is a wonderful idea as well.
Make sure everyone creates profiles and you can "friend" each other and leave motivational notes and advice in each others journals.

Feel free to search the forums and ask questions and get acclimated :)
IF you have any other questions that you can't find the answers to, please free to send me a PM (private message) via the "send message" icon under my avatar or clicking on the envelope (depending on which version of Calorie Count you are using).

Again, welcome and good luck!

Reason: Deleted email address from post, per posting guidelines. Thanks and welcome to CC!
Welcome Connie_Sue!
First, you figured it out since you DID post.  Good for you! LOL

You can add friends by clicking on the icons for the different people you see in the forums.
Once you are in their profile (where you can read and learn more about them), if you look in the upper right hand corner, you will see an "Add buddy" link.
That will add them to your friends list.  If they elected it in their settings, they will even get an email letting them know someone added them, and they can find out more about you, and add you to THEIR buddy list too :)
I will add you, just to get your friend network started :)

You asked about it being okay to post your email address.
It is not advised that you post your personal email address in your posts on the forums. People can contact you via Private Message (an internal Calorie Count email system).
You can edit your post and delete that yourself.
Otherwise, I would be happy to do that for you.

Again, welcome to Calorie Count and PLEASE feel free to ask, if you have ANY questions.

Hi!  My name is Maureen and I'm a 49 year old living in Nebraska.  I have been using this site for just about a week now.  For the last week I have kept my calories low -under 1500 day- eaten lots of veggies and fruits, walked at least 45 min a day (two of those were interval walking /jogging) lifted weights 3 days and worked core muscles 2 days.

I am now 3 pounds heavier than I was to begin with!  Shoot!

So, I started out wanting to lose 30 pounds, now I want to lose 33 pounds.  :)

Hello Maureen!
Welcome to Calorie Count.

You are actually off to a wonderful start.  You mentioned the exercise and keeping your caloires under 1500 a day. Did you use the tools on this site to help you determine what your target calorie range should be?

If you haven't already, go and check out the Meet N Greet forum.  You can post something similar to what you posted here and it can help get you started in creating a friends network.
The more people you have to support you in your new journey, the greater success you can achieve.

If you have ANY questions, please feel free to ask!

Again, welcome to Calorie Count!

Hey mcderin!  Yes I did use this site to figure out my calorie range.  My counter said 1700 was what I would use in a day according to my profile, so I dropped it by 200 a day and added more activity.

Fat lot of good it did me!  :)  Can't understand the weight gain, but I'm sticking with it another week.  I can't say what I'll do if I gain another 3 pounds tho!

Is this normal?  to gain like that the first month?

Are you figuring out the total amount of calories you are burning a day?
Do you know how much of a decifit (the difference between calories burned and calories eated) you have?

Send me a PM (click on the "send message" link underneath my name and icon)and we can discuss it further.
PLEASE do not despair.  You have just begun a journey, not a race.
It takes a bit to figure out what will work for you.
There is no set formula that applies to everyone.

I truly understand the frustration you feel right now (see my profile; I discuss how I DID give up the first time I found CC).  But, you are going to build a support network here. And, you will find that you are NOT alone in your struggle and that inevitably, there is at least ONE other person who started the same way you are, and who went through exactly what you are experiencing.

WE will figure this out and  you will be glad you decided to stick it out for another week :)

For a moment, there, I thought this was a special hello just for me! :) I'm looking forward to investigating the community aspects of this site, something that hasn't been offered with other similar tracking programs I've used. I'm adding journaling/tracking here as part of an eating/exercise plan I'm already following. So, hello! Nice to meet you.

Hi,

I am new as of Sept. 13th.  I did not really see this New Member Forum until now.  Ooops but hello everyone anyway.  I just created my bio today however, at first i was kind of scared to do so, now I feel more comfortable.  Since I've been here at this site I have been busy trying to make friends and religiously write in my journal, food & actvitity logs.  Logging faithfully everyday was something I was worried about.  I have tried to do it before on paper and was not successful...I don't know if I can do it now because it's internet based and I'm on the internet anyway that makes it easier for me or what. Anyway, I am glad I stumbled on to this site by accident a few days ago...it has been really helpful!!!  I tell everyone who's interested in losing weight about it.

thanks.

Hi, this is my 1st time posting and created my bio today too. I'm glad a friend introduced this site to me. Thank you Brad (TWN) !.  I have started again going to the gym after almost paying for 9mths without attending to any workout. Started to walk/jog for an hour a day. Hope to achieve my goal soon.

Excited of all the information found in this site, have started to introduce to my friends and colleaques. Hope they will find it usefull too.
