i have an eating disorder, and i am having a hard time... please help
I am 16 years old, and I weigh about 141 lbs. My goal weight is about 118 pounds. However, Iam having a really hard time trying to break out of my binge eating cycle. I have been struggling with a Binge eating Disorder for about the past year or so, and i have gained about 25 pounds because of it( about a year ago, i dropped to about 114 pounds, however i ahve gained it all back... and even more)

. Now that I am out for Christmas break from school, I am finding that I have been binge eating really, reallllllllly bad this week. I am having a very hard time getting back on track. I am in need of alittle motivation, and guidance. Please Help!! &nb sp; ~*AMY*~
I can't relate with you on a personal level, but I've read some stuff.
The average craving lasts 10-20 minutes. If you can last that long, it usually goes away. So if you get the urge to binge, try going for a walk to get away from food and to resist the urge.
Also, I've heard some people with BED try to only buy individually packaged foods. I've heard this helps them, because they can only have the two cookies in the package, rather than he 50 or so in a usual package.
Hi Amy, I'm really sorry that you are having such a hard time right now. I struggled with bingeing for a long time, although I was never thin. I actually got to a point where sweets make me sick because I had so many days of eating a whole package of oreos. It also caused me to put on about 80 pounds and get to my all time high about 230. I was dealing with other issues as well, but therapy really helped me. When I was your age, I told myself I would never been one of those troubled teens in therapy. Now I really wish I would have gone while I was in high school. Just remember, once you are out on your own, it's so much easier to binge. This is something that you really want to get under control as soon as possible. Please consider seeking the help of an ED specialist.
Binging disorder is an ed too and deserves help and support to beat. I agree about treatment. Do you know the reasons behind why you want to binge? Is it the holidays, lack of structures, depression? I wonder what your food intake is besides the binge. I remember as a teen my meals lacked balanced. I would sometimes skip to then eat tons of junk food. If your calories are too low you will be likely to overeat. So some things to look at is do you eat enough calories, balanced meals and snack and the issues you are struggling with.
An eating disorder is an eating disorder regardless of type. The underlying issues are the same, though behaviors vary.
Hope3333 gave some excellent advice.
Think about what is you want in your life that isn't food. Is it acceptance, love, understanding, compassion, etc.?????
Years ago I went through a period of binging as well. Physiologically it was triggered by not eating regularly. Aside from that period of time my main problem is anorexia. For me it has a lot to do with control and self-punishment.
