What does this mean?

I am new to all this Forum stuff, and two people just added me to the friends list but i still don't understand it.

What do I do? Add them back on my list (if i can figure that out)?

Does something special , different happen.

I have absolutely no clue. I'm on this site everyday and i read and i try to add my 2 cents, and help out.

Please help a very confused friend.

No, we stay home an relax. My son and his girlfriend went to Universal they be back on his birthday. This will be our first New Years with out him.

Kind of a bummer, but they are growing up.

Lol that was good i haven't been on this forum very long but from what i can tell if someone adds u as a friend they can send u messages and if u journal at all u can set them so only friends can read them and comment on them. . hope this helps. . have a wonderful new year

Abner, keep that up and you'll have plenty of friends LOL.

Add someone if you like - personal decision.  Click on someones name and you will be brought to their profile.  There besides there name is an option to add them to as a friend.  After adding them that option changes to remove them as a friend. 

When someone adds you as a friend its a sign that theyve something in comman with you or enjoy you based on your posts.  This may or may not be reason to add them but no harm in adding friends and youve always the option to remove them. 

If you go to "Friends" option on the tool bar under community, you will bring up journals of different friends you have.  Its a good idea to read profiles of folks whom your considering adding.  You may notice posts of a person whom online wise you enjoy and choose to proactively add them yourself.  You can also drop them a line telling them youve done so, if you wish, using the little envelope that appears by their name.

The confusing part is that the options are labelled "friend" in some places, and "buddy" in others.

When i  posted my question and after hours of staring into the monitor and not seeing anyone respond I felt very lonely, almost like Will Smith in "I Am Legend".

(ok maybe not that bad, and maybe I wasn't staring at the monitor)

I'm new too... and I just added someone to my friends list because her posts are interesting to me. Suddenly, I felt weird - like, what if it's rude to add a friend without actually making friends first? Too late now! I'm sure we'll all figure out the proper way to do things. In the meantime, no big whoop.
