Hi! I'm Audra and I'm new to the site but I love it.  I am 27 yrs old with alot of weight to lose.  This is the first time that I have actually gotten serious about getting the weight off and becoming a more healthy individual.  I started the first of January and have already started to lose...Hooray!! I would love to hear from you!Smile

Hello Audra! Thank-you for responding to my post. Congrats on the healthier lifestyle and for the weight loss! I'm going to add you as a friend so that we can keep in touch and help each other on our fitness journeys...Cool

Hey, I'm Cole.  I'm 22 and just got married to my high school sweetheart (together since 2000)- We are looking to start a family soon, so I'm trying to get to a healthy weight to be able to do that.  The more friends we have here, the more shoulders we have to lean on for motivation!  I'd be happy to do that for you, if you can do that for me!:-)
Hey my name's Gill, I'm 27 as well and have 60 or so pounds to lose!  I started this thing about 4 weeks ago and have already lost 10 pounds and would love to have a buddy to do this with!

Hi, my name is Sara and I can totally relate to your challenge.  I have lost a total of 62 lbs over the last 8 months and a total of 92 lbs since summer of '07.  I would love to share more of my story with you, my "rock bottom," and would also love the support as I work towards losing my next 38 lbs. by june.  (that will mark my 100 lb mark and 1 year anniversary)  To give you a quick, short story of my success----I am looking at it as changing my lifestyle and looking/feeling healthy v.s losing weight.  I work out and lift weights 4-5 days/week and follow the South Beach Diet, recently started tracking on this site and measure myself weekly so if I don't see the scale move, I likely see inches being lost.  I have done it the "old fashioned way,"  eating healthy and exercise--no way around that.  But I refuse to be 90% of the population that gain the weight back, so I am doing it the "right way,'' no matter how long it takes.  Even after I hit my 100 lbs mark, I will still have another 10-20 lbs. to be where "the charts" tell me to be, but at that point, anything is possible.

Good Luck with your new you!

Hello new posters, thank-you for your responses!

Cole - Congrats on your wedding and it definitely helps when we all work together to stay motivated! (Positive peer pressure?! Tongue out)

Gill - Way to go on having lost 10 lbs. You are well on your way to your healthiest weight!

Sara - Wow, you have definitely been transforming over the past year. It is great how you have persisted in accomplishing so many of your goals in a healthy manner. I'm sure that we'd all love to hear as much of your story as you'd like to share and we all want to be supportive. You keep up that amazing progress and you'll achieve all of your goals!

We have a great group going here and I'm adding all of you to my friends list. If we keep failing forward and never give up then we will all reach our goals...together!

Hello Everyone, my name is Julie I'm 25 and I'm looking to lose 55-60 lbs.  I have two beautiful girls and I got married last year in May.  I have also quit smoking almost 5 months ago and I think thats where alot of my gain came from.

I just joined on Monday and it was fluke that I found this site, but I think it was ment to be!

I have been meaning to lose weight and watch what I was eating but it always seemd to get put on the back burner. I didnt really notice how much weight I gained until I went to my inlaws and used their scale, wow was I ever surprised needless to say after that I decided it was time to do something for myself.  So here I am.

Julieann, I know exactly what you mean about the back burner!.  Between kids, and spouses, and family, and work, and this, and that, I found it hard to justify taking time to "exercise".   But, you know, I figured it out.  I'm no good to anyone feeling fat and depressed, and being tired!

I quit smoking before I had my babies, and never looked back.  But, now, since I've been cutting out my "comfort food", they are beckoning me! Money mouth

Sara, you are such an inspiration!  Tell us what kept you motivated and your best tips, I'd love to hear them.

Welcome Julie and Beth!

Julie - I too found this site on a fluke. I put in a search for "calorie count for peanuts" and found this site! lol

Beth - Thank-you for posting and good for you for deciding that you need to be taken care of before you can take care of others to the best of your ability!

I added both of you to my friends list too, lol. I love the journal feauture of this site and want to be able to see how everyone is doing. Smile

Hi, my name's Lacy, and like some other people on here, I discovered this site quite by accident.  I was looking up a fish recipe and at the bottom of the page was a link to this website.  So I joined today, and have a bunch of weight to lose, having slowly gained over 3 years of marriage and a new baby.  I'd love making some online buddies on here to encourage me, cuz i'll sure need it!

Hey Beth, I hear ya in that!  Im struggling with the same thing.  To smoke or not to smoke? That truley is the question.

My husband and I were midnight munchers lol so to speak but I have survived that so far, he isnt a good influence tho, he will come to bed and jokingly rub it in my face (he thinks Im fine the way I am).

The same goes with smoking, it was his idea to quit so I did and he still hasnt, I mean I give him credit but c'mon it was his idea to begin with lol.

I also found that when I quit I was out of breath alot?!?! How does that make sense, meh oh well, Ive quit now so I dont think Ill start back up, both of my girls are proud of me so they give me the strength I need to stay away from them.  So really I guess I just answered my own question lol thanks.

Hello my name is Lourdes I am 28 and just had my 3rd baby (6 months old) and still can't seem to shake off the (extra 40) pounds Frown. It has been extra hard to diet with my 3 babies (3yrs, 1-1/2 yrs, & 6 months) since they have to eat all the time... lol... well not all the time but it sure feels like it, if not one the other. I just joined yesterday hoping for some results. I could sure use some encouragement and motivation.

Welcome Cortana and Lourdes!

Cortana - Please do post a picture so that you'll feel more invested in your commitment to the site and just know that this is the right time and place to find comfort in your own skin! I've been hiding out in clothes for many years. Plug-in and do whatever it takes to make this work for you now so that you can feel the sunshine (through sunscreen ofcourse) on your skin this summer and all the others in the future. Focus on Progression or improvement Not Perfection (or unrealistic goals). If you make small changes that you can live with then you'll have long term results.

Lourdes - We are here for you! If you plug-in and interact then you'll make great connections on this site that will keep you going until you reach your goal.
