hi...... i had similar problem......i might be a guy but at 17 i weighed about 220lbs and now i weigh 155 and dropping (im 18 now). basically what happened was i got fed up of people poking fun at me for my weight (i am extremely sensitive about my weight). and started doing research online about how to lose weight. and seeing as you are on this website seems as if you r doin research to. i lost weight eating pizza candy and soda. and i aint lyin. what i did was COUNT CALORIES. i took my BMR and ate 250 fewer calories than i burned a day. i am recommending that you do as i did. i really think itll work for you. well hope this helps.
NOTE: dont think of it as a diet think of it as a new life style. a new part of life. counting calories will be a part of your life FOREVER. so get used to it. i did and it aint so bad
I just broke 200's looking to get to 150 right now. I would love to hop on board. if you have any questions, need motivation, whatever let me know.
Jeanus, instead of taking on a deficit right now, sometimes the best thing to do is eat at maintenance for a week or two, then drop by 250 with exercise then when you are comfortable drop some more. Nothing is worse than being hungry and unfortunately it is not just the first couple days, its the first three weeks! Before you know it you will be well on your way. You are young yet, and take that to heart. My parents said the same thing to me and here I am at 33 trying to get it off and it aint easy.
See you guys around.
I am 33 and have gone from 210 to 197 in 6 weeks! The first few weeks were definitley the hardest...I had to fight with myself all the time because I wanted to eat my old staples...and I felt like I was always hungry! plus, the weight didn't come off the first couple weeks...just a few inches! So, remember it takes a few weeks of "faking it till you make it" to get yourself in the new life habit...then it will get easier and you will start feeling better!
I would love to join too :)
Hey, I'm 31 and started this website almost a month ago now. I started at 232 and I am now down to 221. I've been having a hard time this week due to the fact that I haven't gone grocery shopping!! So, I haven't had any meals planned. Planning is key to success! Oh and lots of water too :)
You can do it!
Feel free to add me as a friend and I will help all that I can!!
I am keeping my calories at 1200-1400...so I am having a 500-1000 deficit a day when I work out. I am a bit sore today so I will take a rest day and won't have much of a deficit today but still won't get up to maintance calories...
How are you all doing and what are you doing????
i posted my start pictures yesterday, I knew i had to lose weight and work on the abs, but i didn't realize it was that bad. I have my fist weight check on Monday. This is only my fourth day. I decided to only do the weighing thing once a week. It is hard to get into working out when you haven't done it before. My tummy muscles are sore. I keep saying to my self that it will get better. I also have the most wonderful husband and children who are backing me up 100 % of the way.
Good luck to everyone.
Can an old lady from Massachusetts join in? ![]()

I had a health scare recently and decided to change my life and get healthy I want to be around to enjoy my family, especially my grand kids! I started my diet January 1st. and Lost 3 lbs before I joined this website at 215. I am now 211lbs. So far I have lost 7 lbs. My 1st. goal is to get out of the 200's by the end of March. The only words of wisdom I have is what I keep telling myself....Keep at it.....Don't focus on the scale...and 1 pound is 4 sticks of butter! That is a-lot of fat when you think of it!! So, you're doing great!
I havn't lost anything in the past week....but, I know I have eaten less than what I have burned every day, so I am following my own words from above.
Hi! Can I join you guys?? I am 30 yrs old, mother of 2 sweet boys (22mos and 3 1/2). I started on this new lifestyle change about 4 weeks ago. So far I am down 10lbs. I started at 208, now down to 198. I am 5'11, and eatting about 1400-1500 calories a day. Everyday I walk on the treadmill 45-60 mins. On Tues and Thurs I am taking a weight resistance/cardio/ab class for one hour. This is my first post on this board, but I have been reading/lurking for a couple weeks now. I am excited to meet you guys!

Shannon...just don't give up. any of us!
Weekends are hard aren't they? I guess that is maintence time :-) I started Turbo Jam and so far I love it. She starts us out with 20 minutes 4x a week, then builds it to 5x a week with varying times from 20-45 minutes a day. I am trying not to weigh myself until Friday. I don't think I will make it that long, but...I am trying. I also need to track my measurments. I hate to do that more than seeing the scale! THAT is reality! But...it must be done. I want to loose inches, not just pounds.
How was everyone's weekend?
