declaring war on the muffin top!

Quote  |  Reply

I have one of those natural muffin tops where no matter what pants I wear, my fat sticks over them. That's pretty much all I have to loose, my side view looks great, but my drop waist measurement is bigger than my hip measurement! Anybody else looking to blast their muffin top away?

Call me a freak, but I like the little muffin top, at least on some girls. It's sexy to me. I used to kiss the hell out of my ex's little muffin top. :)

I'm from UK and have only just worked out what a "muffin top" is!!  Well, I haven't got one but my hips walk into the room 10 minutes before I do Yell

Have you tried going up a pants size? :P

It's there even without pants on. )=

Hi Elizabe92,

What is your workout regimine right now? I could give you some tips.

Thanks!

Basically I do a lot of stretching, do various types of dance all week, I have gym every day so I run for 5- 10 minutes a day, and I'm in physical therapy for back pain right now, so I do those type of exercises. Nothing structured I'm afraid.

I'm with ya on the muffin top.  Damn thing just needs to go away.

Mortal Monkey - reading your post always make me laugh lol

Don't flame me for this but its the clothes that you are wearing.  Seriously I used to ahve a "Muffin Top" and found that it "went away" when I wore pants that went over it.  That means NO LOW RISE jeans ladies.   So have a few select pants I am willing to wear to cover the muffin for now.

I call mine a "shelf" since the baby was born. With crunches, it is totally reducing in size. It's taken over a month though to actually see some results.

I have tried the size bigger pants but then they are baggy/saggy in the back and makes me look worse. Are there certain types of pants to look for?

By the way, how do you get rid of the muffin top? I bike 14 miles a day and run after 4 kids. Any suggestions would be great!!!!

My dad just mentioned an ab roller - would that work?

I have had to start wearing pants that go up to my belly button.  I have worn low rise pants since I was in middle school (I am 24 now) so to move to "high waisted" pants was a little odd at first. Its not so much bigger pants but higher pants.

My grandmother always wore those "slimming" pants. Like a modern day girdle. Those things help smooth out the muffin top.

"By the way, how do you get rid of the muffin top?"

-Burn more calories than you consume.

"My dad just mentioned an ab roller - would that work?"

-It will work for making your abs stronger, but won't do anything to reduce fat around your midsection.

I had to giggle, when I logged on here, the ad on the side was for muffins.

Hi,

I would make sure that your diet includes lots of anti-inflammatory foods such as vegetables and the omega-3 fatty acids. Try to avoid grains altogether and get the bulk of your carbohydrates from vegetables and fruit with breakfast and after your workouts (especially berries which are packed w/ anti-oxidants.)

The ab-wheel is a great tool, but I agree you need to focus on reducing fat and not just targeting the abs (although this is a great addition to a total-body resistance training program). Try adding some 20 - 30 minute high intensity intervals to your routine.

I'm with you, well I don't have a muffin top more of a pot belly, due to my past 2 weeks of daily binging :o

Good luck to everyone and war on the muffin tops!! xxx

It's definitely clothing styles.  Hip huggers and low rise pants tend to create the muffin top unless you get a pair of pants that doesn't fit snugly in which case you have to worry about them falling off.
