"new" workout routine- with Jane Fonda?! ;-)

Ok, guys, bear with me here!  This is my first new topic in CC (BTW, I've always wanted to say that I absolutely love the feedback y'all give to your folks- I honestly can say that I highly doubt you will find other posts where you will find the most positive, motivating groups  of people sharing similar goals and supportive of one another!!!!).

Currently, I'm 27 Years old, I've led quite a bad lifestyle for 10 years until January 2007, I've finally decided that enough is enough, started to eat right, in correct portions, exercising both cardio and weights (including my Tae Bo videos- I love Billy!) and eventually lost over 50 lbs and inches. Bbut I've recently felt that I made a "new" workout video discovery that I'm sure some people will be more than familiar with simply because it's so outdated, but It works!!

Recently, I've "discovered" Jane Fonda and her workout videos! My favorite of her videos is theOriginal and the "Workout Challenge" that's 90 minutes long that KILLS ME and really makes me focuse on my overall weight loss and more importantly other factors such as my heart health, lowering risk of diabetes, obesity, cholesterol, etc. Not just that, I have SO much fun doing her video that I seriously can't wait until the next morning to squeeze her in my everyday life. Once I've finished the entire video (there will be many breaks!), I feel like Rocky once he reaches the top of the stairs like I've just accomplished a new goal in my life- to catch up with the video.

I know this has got to sound lame to a lot but if you try the video once, I guarantee that you will so not be disappointed- I have been using it for only a week and call me crazy, I already can tell a difference! Maybe it's just a shock to my muscles, but the next day, I seriously could not even walk, it has such an awesome cardio section. Seriously, does anybody know which one I'm talking about?

Does anyone else want to share some of their outdated but "tried and true" workout videos that just makes others like Tae Bo (just a few!) look like kiddy-play?

I had to laugh! The Jane Fonda workout was what I did after my third child was born, way back in 1989!!! I was 35 then, and living in Indonesia, so your message brought back a lot of sweaty memories. But the work out made me go from a BMI of 29 ( and the jelly-like body of a new mother) to a neat 23 in just a few months. So, yes, it works.

Just a word of caution though: if you have not been exercising much in the past, beware of putting too much strain on your joints. High impact exercise can wreak havoc on your legs if you overdo it or if your posture is not perfect. If you exercise alone, it's an even greater risk, as you don't have a teacher to prevent those knees from sagging inwards or those hips from tilting forward...

Good luck and much fun to you!!!

Oh, gosh! Tell me about, I had to really pay attention to make sure I don't put too much bounce on my knees and ankles! But I love this woman- my mom even said that she remembers a lot of her girlfriends that used to do it all the time and she said that ALL of them were skinny (but of course, that was before super-sizing our portions and all the delicious take out foods we've come to know and love- and fight!). But you did after after your third child- you must be wonder woman!!!

I just wish that there would be a "new" Jane Fonda that would have a little more updated version where there's less chances of injuring yourself- other than that, I love this woman!

But, the arm portion- I'm actually pretty muscular but the arms exercises KILLED- my deltoids were shocked by such different movements that it's a wonder Jane can even keep up with herself- how can she even smile like that while she's doing it?  GO FOR THE BURN !   :-)

i have the 'new workout' video. i did it a lot a few years ago to keep fit and it is so funny. when lesley starts singing it always cracks me up. it has a beginner workout and then an advanced. i have never managed to do the advanced one! lol. i'm pretty fit at the moment actually so i might get out my leg warmers and give it a go! she does great exercises for the butt! i bought a couple of other JF videos after this one from a charity shop but I didn't like those as much. And i love that all the people in it look like dancers and athletes.

oh and another good video (slightly more up to date!) is nell mcandrews 'peak energy' which i used to find really tough. guess i'll have to give that one a go too and see if i'm as fit as i think i am! (not sure if that video is available in the states though).

haha! New!? Don't worry, I still LOVE the ones she did back in the 80's! We found them in our basement a couple weeks ago! The quality is so bad that the screen keeps readjusting while it plays but I don't care b/c a work out is a workout!  They all wear these high-thigh cut aqua leotards with the sweatbands. It's kind of comical. But no denying she had a hot bod I'd love to have when I'm that age!

lol. the 80s hairstyles give it away!!

I Think I'm seriously going to be buying some leg warmers- I just think she looks so cute in them- I love her outfit! But yeah, bebe66, the butt part KILLED as well- I so felt it afterwords and I even notice a slight difference after only a month of using this video! But I will also look into the "peak energy"- I love looking for new videos (well, new to me anyways) because a good workout is worth it, and after all, my body isn't going to know whether or not the tape is over 20 years old, right?
