TOo low when i workout it reaches to 56 somtimes an i only workout on the treadmill 30 min an my heart rate goes as high as 140 i want to know if thats too low or is it that fact that i have highblood pressure that is gets that low.
THANKS
If your saying your heart rate is under 60bpm, it is a very good resting heart rate for the fit and athletic!
If you have a heart rate of 56 its called bradycardia. normal is 60-100bpm. It also matters what kind of heart rhythm you are in.
140 sounds like a low max heart rate, but Id need some stat like age and weight and sex! It also depends if you want to fat burn, or cardio train.
blood pressure will always increase when working out, its your bodys sympathetic nervous system responce to stress.
What medications are you on? Some are intended to bring your heart rate down. My resting heart rate has been under 50 for years and believe me its not because I am super fit! BP Medications can also affect your max heart rate as well. Mine was 137 based on recent stress test in cardiologists office. BP is only really to low when it causes extreme dizziness and passing out. Check with your Dr.
no you can have have a blood pressure of 70/60 and be stable without any other symptoms of hypotension.
if you "pass out" (or have a syncope episode) its not just due to blood pressure. Too many things to list can be going on for that....... like heart blocks, vagus nerve stimulation and responses, hypoxia......ect
Blood pressure meds can decrease heart rate, but so can heart rate meds! beta blockers, calcium channel blockers, ect.....
Nitro glycerine ( a heart med) can bottom out blood pressure)
my point being too many variables, you would need an ECG (EKG) and blood work done to see what was happening from an electrical and physiological point of view.
How old are you?? What is your resting heart rate?? Are you on betablockers for the hypertension?? All these things greatly effect what your max heart rate might be.
I am 48 my RHR is 48 but I"ve been doing cardio for years - my MHR is technically 174 but I've gotten it as high as 180 and didn't die ( sure wanted to hehehe) a HR of 140 for me is a hard intense workout. Also recovery time ( the time it takes to get your heart rate back down after working out is importatnt too.
also are you using the machine to test the pulse a heart rate monitor or counting manually?? Machines are notoriaously inaccurate. Use the perceived rate of exertion or a heart rate monitor for the most accurate way to decide if you aren't working hard enought.
thanks guys for responding well im 23 and i my current weight is 212 im not on any meds and my resting heart rate is 110 to 120 but its pretty weird because yesterday i worked ot and my pulse went as low as 48 so if you can help me to to figure this out i would be greatful oh i forgot im 5,4 . thanks
It sounds like you are relying on the readout of the machines to show your heart rate. On the machines at the gym where I workout, the monitor sometimes says my heart rate is dropping to around 50 or 60, but I know for a fact that it is just a defect in the monitor when I sweat on the sensors. If I dry the sensors off and then grasp them again, then it show the correct values. The machine sometimes also says my heart rate goes up to 225 or 230, but I know that when I am exerting myself at the level I like to, that my heart rate never goes above 160 (as counted manually using a watch to time it). I usually average about 130 - 140 on the recumbent bike, 135 - 145 on the elliptical and 110 - 130 when walking, which for my age and weight is where I want it to be.
As for the "perceived exertion" method, I find that to be very unreliable for me. I got used to being able to talk while exerting myself in the Army, where we had to sing cadence while running.
