I started a new post earlier today asking if I could pull off a bikini, being as my mom doesn't think I look good in one.. everyone that has answered so far thinks I can, so I won't ask that again.  What I'm trying to figure out now is which bikini looks better.. I have a combined pic in my profile with both next to each other, in approximately the same body position except the black pic is a little more zoomed in with more of my feet/legs cut off.. I spent forever yesterday trying bikinis on and settled for the black one, but the only person I had to tell me what looked good and bad was my boyfriend, who tells me I always look good, but he said this one looked better than the rest but he could have just been getting frustrated lol. well anyway, if you all could comment and let me know which one looks better and why (like which parts of my body they make look good and bad), it would be incredibly helpful.. the black one I just got yesterday and can probably still return if the old one looks much better... thanks!

I like the black one better, myself. And your mom needs to shush. She probably just doesn't want you showing off your beautiful body. ;)

I definitely like the black one the best in general. The style is fine on the other one but the design is just too busy. The black one flatters you without taking focus away. Or putting it everywhere at once. ( But, the halter style top on the other one makes your breast look fuller. It looks like it gives you more lift than the black one. I think if you had a halter top bathing suit that wasn't as busy that might be the best combo on you. But, out of this one or that one...The black is my choice. )

Check out other halter tops below. I honestly think the halter top  flatters your upper body most. There's nothing wrong with a design that's sorta busy. But, that one was just too busy for my taste. Heh

 Nah. You aren't weird, Shauna. I kept debating back and forth myself because I like the top of the busy one best. I just wasn't a fan of the color/pattern used on it. ( So I would've opted for the black. ) But, you know what... If you like the pattern.. GO for that. Because it honesty does give you more of a ' lift ' Everyone likes different colors and patterns best.

I definitely see what you mean about the other top giving more of a lift.  I think one problem with the black top is that I just got it and haven't retied it yet (oops lol). I know the string that goes around my back was quite loose, which I'm guessing would cause even more of a flattening effect since the material wasn't tight.. I was just kinda trying it on to see how it looked lol.

Right now, after seeing what you all said, I think the bottom of the black bikini might flatter my body better and also think that the top being higher instead of having that band makes my torso look a little longer, thus being a little more thinning.. I'm going to try to retie the top at some point tonight and see if I can make it look a little better, but I'm not sure if I should bother returning it (it was only $7.50 lol) or if I should just buy another top to mix it up a little.  Here are the two I was looking at:

 Oooh. That's a biggie. If they aren't quite tied high enough or tight enough it really showed in that type of suit. Try that! Lol  I think your boyfriend was being honest with you.I like it best color/patternwise too. It's basic but that works for you. It's not like you need a lot of distraction from your body in your suit. If it's tied a bit tighter/higher... I bet it'd look perfect.

If I get a chance, after I finish writing my paper later I'll try to retie the top and maybe get a new pic.  I have a feeling that will at least help a bit, even if it doesn't make it entirely perfect.  As for my bf, I think he's anti- bright colors/patterns.  All the brighter suits I tried on (like hot pink) he said no right away too and said somethin about people looking at me and noticing how pretty i look rather than WOW! a fluorescent bikini top!  I kinda see what he says, but patterns are fun too. I think a problem with my old one is that the pattern on the bottom is busy.. if it just had the patterned belt rather than the whole bottom being patterned, i think it would draw more attention up and look a little better.. oh well, I don't think I'll find more bottoms that match that top lol.  I might still think about getting a different top; I'm leaning toward the polka-dot one in the second link in my last post.. it adds a tiny bit of color and a lot more support and coverage if I'm going to be moving around a lot. 

They both look great! Can you get them both?

But if you have to pick one;

If you want to attract men, the black one is a bit sexier.

If you want to look more athletic, the purple one does it.

Aw thanks :)  The purple one is from the end of last summer, which didn't look great on me when I got it but was the best bikini I had ever tried on (and the first one I bought since I was about 6 lol) so I already have that one.  The black one I got yesterday, from walmart for like $15 surprisingly, when I went shopping with my bf.  He actually picked it out which I guess confirms your theory that it will attract more men lol.  I still have a few more pounds I want to lose; I want to be somewhere between 145 and 150.  I care more about looks than numbers tho, and still have some flab on the tummy and a saggy/jiggly butt I'd like to firm up.  I know working out will help, but just don't have the time til school is over in 2 weeks.. I also think whatever muscle I get won't show very much until I lose the fat.  I'm so happy to be where I am tho, down 83 lbs lost very very slowly over 5 years, and down 16 from feb :)  Its just these last few that are the hardest and getting my body exactly into the shape i want it in

ok so i didnt wait til i finished my paper and tried the top on again, but didnt take any pics... i do actually still have some cleavage with the black top; not quite as much as with the purple top, but still a lot more than shows in these pics.  i wish i still had my old boobs from before i lost weight, but i like this body better.. guess it was a trade off lol

Honestly?  You are THIN and they both look good... I prefere the black one but they are both cute... Why would anyone say you couldn't pull off a bikini? That is just crazy talk!

i found a new place to reply to! lol. i like the black one better on the bottom and i know what you mean about the tie for the top. i bet that helped a lot!?!?!?!?! ive had a couple walmart swim suit, my first bikini was from there (when i was 16 i got it and it STILL fits and it STILL is a good suit...and i wore it at the lake every weekend for a full year and on/off the next year. so you got a suit thats unbeatable, even if its from wally world! i do roxy now, but i still throw that walmart one on and work it! hehehe)

anyway! i also 100% LOVE LOVE LOOOOVE the black and pink one from target too though. ohhh, buy them all! lol. esp since the black on you have looks so cute already and your thinking abuot the target one. i liked the cream one too,  but that color can kinda drown girls sometimes.

either way, congrats! you look great and dont listen to your mom AT ALL. but listen to your bf. he's right. you do look great.

u found me!  lol.  re-tying the top actually did help A LOT.  the string around my neck was too tight, basically just flattening my boobs, and the one around my back was too loose so the material just kinda laid there and wasnt doing much to help.  after tying it, it definitely looks better than before, although not as cleavage creating as some tops.  i feel like the fact that it doesnt have that extra band under it elongates my torso making me look leaner tho.. idk, thats how i see it anyway.  wal mart gets bashed for quite a few things, but if u go through all their bathing suits, there are some pretty nice ones mixed in.  there are of course some very cheaply made ones, but u can tell that just by feeling them before buying it. 

im very strongly considering the black and pink top.  im gonna wear the bottoms under shorts and go to target and try on tops lol.  i like the white one too, but im afraid that it might be too harsh of a contrast, being as the bottoms are entirely black, or it could draw attention up since its brighter which would be a good thing.  im always nervous about white getting wet tho.. the polka dot one i think would be good because the base color is still black, but it has all the pink and white to draw attention without being a huge contrast. i dunno, we'll see when i get home in 2 weeks!  if they even have those tops in the store by me, that had better lol.

i think i might start listening to my bf a little bit more.. too bad  hes not around all the time, he always makes me feel prettier :)

thanks :)  it was also my mom who told me when i was 14 that id never look good in a tankini, because that was my original goal, so maybe my horrible self-image exists in her brain as well lol.  maybe shes been so close to me and seen me for so long that nothings really changed for her.  i dunnooo.. its just frustrating because its my mom and i usually ask her opinion about how a lot of clothes look, and usually she tells me im skinny now and can wear anything, but when i asked her about a bikini she told me i was skinny enough but have a bad stomach and shouldnt

I like the purple one best.  Everyone wears a plain black bikini, wear the one that's prettier and you'll look like yourself.

Mom's often have an antiquated idea of what their daughters should wear.  I wouldn't wear a bikini until a friend of mine in Hawaii laughed me into it, now I don't wear anything else except board shorts and a bikini top.

I definitely like the purple one. Also, don't worry about your stomach. I think you look fantastic!

Anyhow, I think that you can find more flattering swimsuits. Don't get me wrong - you look incredible! I just think that there are more flattering bathing suits out there. Maybe you could try a monokini. They're very trendy and I think it would look great on you!

 

Team Purple

I prefer the purple one.  I think the thick waistband draws the eye more to your hourglass shape (read: sexy curves!) and the banded halter top gives you more cleavage. 

 

I could be biased because I have the same swimsuit, but I can't fit into it anymore, though.  (VS for the win!)
