it really isn't about the type of food.
binging is when you lose control of your eating and eat massive amounts of food in a short period of time and don't stop until sickly-full.
eating 2 pieces of pie after dinner is overeating, but eating 3 pieces of pie a slice of cake, half a box of cereal, a pint of icecream and a bag of gummi worms is binging.
i've even heard of some people binging on broccoli and cauliflower.
anything you eat in excess in a short or long period of time can be considered a binge. But if it's something like veggies, your body might just be screaming out for some nutrients that you are in need of. I was low on magnesium and never ever ate almonds, but had a taste of my bf's and couldn't stop until the can was empty! When I was younger I used to wait until my housemate was asleep and steal the peanut butter and eat it by the finger/spoon full until almost empty along with a box og Target Brand ginger snaps*!!! ughhhhh! So tasy! I was going through this weird binge phase, but I purge afterward which is really , really bad, and only made the guilt worse. Don't do this please!! If anything learn from other bingers mistakes and teach yourself good eating habits.
Consider this time being a warning of your body alerting you of lack in nutrients, and be sure ot get them in almost every other meal instead of all at once. :)
at least make a real effort
I've come to feel that binging is anything where I feel driven by food and out of control in an uncomfortable way. I'm not talking about "Dang! I shouldn't have had seconds of dinner!" When I used to binge I used to not only feel sick, I would actually go into a stupor. Literally. I would lose time, like I was a drunk who had blacked out.
Now I overeat pretty regularly but I don't binge.
Spek, in your case, you need to eat all the calories you can get so please don't think that you're binging by eating a ton of veggies. I regularly eat 1 pound of veggies in addition to rice and protein during a meal so even though you think you just ate ~6 pounds of veggies the total calorie count on that would be about 400 calories if it were broccoli.
I believe that there is a difference between overeating, pigging out for the fun of it during an event, holiday or just out of boredom versus bingeing out of control with respect to an eating disorder or emotional eating/over eating. It is important to define and understand why we ate and overate. Was it for appropriate reasons like a holiday, was it unthinking, and critically was it out of control or just a little more than we should have?

More importantly, I really hope you can talk to your parents, teacher or a guidance counselor about your concerns with your weight and eating habits so that you can get the help you need to nip your binging habits in the bud before they get out of control.
We hope you find the support, encouragement and friendships you need on this website to get over any binge-eating problems you might have noticed creeping up and to sustain a healthy weight!
I started binging cos i was really underweight and i kept telling myself, a couple of extra pounds would be a good thing. It kinda gets out of controll though, an extra serving of dinner turns into an extra serving plus desert plus snack and then eventually forget about dinner, i'll just have 3 courses of desert then make more!
Try to space your calories out evenly through the day and be aware of emotional hunger. Have as many different healthy foods as possible and plan ahead. Treat yourself once in a while too, but it will be far more rewarding in the appropriate amounts :)

Honestly, right now, you shouldn't even be worrying about binging. You probably need way more calories then you are eating currently anyways and need to focus on gaining. If you truly want to recover, you need to EAT and not obsess for a while, or you will only fall back into doing the things that got you how you are today.
I consider a binge eating an excess of something, followed by a guilt trip, only to head for the food again to suppress those feelings. There are a lot of emotional issues involved.
