Since noone did this yet, I figured I'd start this off. :o)

I'm so ready to get this started, and if all goes well I will have a few pounds to give to my team! Come around and say hi, I want to know who I'm losing weight with for the next 12 weeks!

The last time I did something like this, it was amazing. I hope this is just as amazing! The question is, do we make up a name for ourselves or just keep it 'the purple team'?

Week One challenge (starts 8-1-08...ends ???) Sodium challenge!

Starting in August, we tackle a big monster...sodium. Commonly used as salt, it is essential for the body to function...but in much less amounts than are usually consumed.

The general consensus for sodium per day is 2400 mg. Most get much more than that, and this can lead to water retention. Noone wants that. So the time being, we will focus on lowering the amount of sodium in our diets. This can be done by not consuming certain foods. Suggestions are:

- Anything canned.

- Crackers.

- Soups.

- Seasonings

- *gasp* Salt!

Going for the low-sodium variety of foods is a great way to cut sodium consumption. Using alternates of certain seasonings helps, and keeps your food tasting great! (Mrs. Dash is a personal favorite)

So if you're game, let's kick sodium's tail. :)

Yay ! for weightloss this week !

Good morning everyone!!  Our team is so great already!  This is exciting!  I am the same as I was on July 1st.  I am actually pleasently suprised by that since I got sunburned this holiday weekend and it is coming up on TOM both cause me to retain water.  Atleast it isn't a gain right?!

I think the weekly challenges are a great idea!

On a personal note, I drive an hour each way to work everyday.  I am curious as to if you guys have any breakfast ideas that you just love....that are eating while driving friendly.

Thanks and have a great day!

Hello all ~ This makes my 2nd Biggest Loser Challenge. Not to boast, but I won the last Biggest Loser Challenge part 6. I lost 23 lbs just barely edging out a few others who were just 1 lb or 2 less than myself. It gets competitive! Especially the last 3-4 weeks!

I still have about 85 lbs to lose so I'm in this one all the way. Tentatively speaking I'd like to get to at least 200 lbs this time around.

I'll weigh in on Thursdays. I will probably come out to about 225 lbs this week as I'm just beginning today after a 2 week hiatus from actively trying to lose weight.

Go Purple! And I'm game for any name if you want to change it, too.

I'm down a pound

I edited my first post to include this week's challenge. I encourage everyone to join in! By the way, if anyone comes up with an idea for next week's challenge, do share!

CONGRATS, everyone! You guys are looking great...honestly!

Steph, I will gladly challenge you to the biggest loser title. Tongue out

I am glad to say I am 2.4 pounds down. I could have given .4 more (I was 210 yesterday), but I weight trained last night and had to eat dinner very quickly, so I guess I'm...you know. LOL.

Keep going everyone...this team is looking great already. I look forward to seeing your mugs for the next 12 weeks. And I mean that in the nicest way possible. :)

Morning everyone!

I weighed in on a different scale and am the same as I was 208.  I am on vacation in Saskatoon and her scale may weigh different than mine but it will even out when I get home.  No help for the team this week.

Im so excited about this group !!

Im in shock that i lost 3.9lbs this week, I feel so great about that !

Water challenge is great ! Its one that i actually set for myself everyday.

I challenge my self to drink 3 liters of water which is just over 100oz of water everday !

Hope everyone is having a great week !!

I'll be weighing in on Thursday.  Wish me luck!

Cristin-if you do find some good meals for the road, let me know!  I drive an hour each way as well.  I'm pretty sure that's how this weight crept up on me so fast...too much fast food!

I do like the water challenge though...I've been trying to drink more water any how...now there's motivation!

Good morning fellow purple members:)

I weighed in this morning and had lost 4 pounds since my starting weight which was taken right before ttom so I lost about 2 actual pounds and 2 pounds of bloat.

I think the challenges are a great idea especially the water one. I find myself drinking lots of diet soda which is no good.

Good luck to everyone on their weigh ins!

Oh and as for meals on the go I like to toast whole grain flax waffles ( one or two depending on how many calories I want to use) and spread it with a tsp of natural pb.You can eat this cold and its not bad at all.HArd boiled eggs are also a good traveling choice just peel them before you take off.
I like the weekly challenge idea, too. And we can repeat the same ones later for a reminder if we can't think of anything else after a few weeks.

Also, vitamins could be a week. I'm very bad about rememberng them. And I'm also nursing my 5 month old so they're very good to add especially since I'm limiting my calories to lose weight (but she's doing great, no worries!).

Wow, a personal challenge ..  I'm a bit concerned I can't keep losing at a steady rate but I'll sure try! I don't like to lose. If I were in a physical challenge I'd go until I dropped!! :) You're on... but I hope that everyone will challenge themselves .. and there are some very competitive, steady Losers signed back up again, too!

Welcome to all new 'faces'!

I worked out for 70+ minutes today. My hamstrings and quads were killing me after Week 4, Day 1 of couch to 5K. Absolutely exhausting...

Today was MISERABLY HOT. It was out of control!

Steph, no worries...it'll be a friendly competition! :) I'm sure you'll be just fine with losing the weight. The body is an amazing thing!

LOL omg 70mins !! Now i really feel bad that i didnt get to the gym today =(

Don't feel bad! It's summer for me and I can work out as much as I'd like because I don't have college and whatnot. I'm sure if you had the time, you'd do it too. =)

Just do your best...no worries!

Just curious about others lives ... as for me ..

I'm 31 & married almost 11 years. We have six children and we're coming up on birthday season so before the end of the challenge they'll be 10, 9, 8, 6, 4, and our baby is 5 months (born on Jan 28th).

I don't work except at keeping my sanity :) I try to get to the gym to swim and want to add other stuff. I also like to walk and occasionally do sprint or distance challenges with my husband and he always beats me cause he'd rather die trying than let me win, lol.

They and my own family (parents, brothers, etc ) are what my life revolves around! And it's packed on the lbs and I'm steadily losing it now since Jan 07 (except for pregnancy). I was 282.5 at delivery Jan 28th and was 225 a few days ago. I'm working on it!

Alright .. tell all, all !

Hi purple team, purple rocks dont ya know

First of all some quick questions about this challenge anyone know if we get eliminated like in the real series and if so anyone know what the proccess is.

Other than that I just want to wish everyone good luck this is just what I need to get my motivation back after gaining 7lb in one week and not having and luck shifting it.

No, people are only eliminated when they stop posting weights after 3x or basically quit. What's sad is how many people start dropping like flies after the 3rd & 4th weeks.

In the part 6 challenge the top 5 individual weight-losses were posted after each week's weigh-in, and the teams were listed for rank of percentage lost.

Then after the Finale week the Team that lost the most percentage overall was the Winner and again, the top 5 individuals with the most overall total weightloss were listed.

So, it's team but also added individual. I think KJ (the mod this time) will be doing it that way. I might mod it next time for part 8, we'll see how it all goes :)

Hi, everyone. Hope everyone is exercising, drinking that water and being merry. :)

As for me, I'm pretty much an open book. I attend college in Philadelphia, and I have the best friends and family ever ever. I've been big all of my life, and I joined CC about a year and a half ago, and lost almost 40 pounds...then life happened. School started stressing me out, and somehow I lost my way. About a month ago, I was lying in bed and I thought I'm going to change all of this tomorrow. And that's just what I did - I got up the next day and started exercising. 10 pounds later, here I am! I've still got 55 more to go, but I'm a determined woman.

I study Psychology, and I'm looking into Forensics or Social Work. I just love helping people and even though I'll be sitting on top of mounds of debt, I hope I'll be happy! Laughing

Um, guys...I am absolutely beaming right now! I bought some jeans I knew wouldn't fit me (goal pants, if you will), and I was going to work into them. I was going to try them on to see where they sat - or didn't sit, haha - and all the while, I was shaking my head. That waist is too small. My thighs won't allow for jeans like this! Lo and behold, THEY FIT! The thigh area is a tad tight, but I can sit down and all of that. My mom says 5 more pounds and I'll fit comfortably into them. I am so souped because this time last year I was at my smallest (206-ish) and I couldn't get my hips around a 17! Now I can fit 15's. Wow.

Congrats on all the weight loss and the jeans, goddess!  Hopefully I can be saying the same soon!

I weighed in today, only a 0.5 lb weight loss.  But hey, take what I can get, right?  Gives me a little more motivation for next week. Laughing

As for my story...I'm 27 (less than a month away from 28) and have two little boys (20 months and 1 month).  I've been married for three years this next Wednesday!  It's hard to believe.  I've always been overweight except for around 7 years ago I was actually at the weight I wanted to be at.  I used to have the time to walk for hours and I loved it!  Don't really have the time for that now.  After getting settled in a relationship and going to school, I really packed on the pounds.  I went from wearing my clothes to those being to tight, so I'd wear my husband's jeans.  Now I can't fit into those.

Since I just had a baby not too long ago, I can't be going at this full force like I would like...but give me a couple of weeks!  I just can't wait until I can start cranking at my workout dvds!

Good luck to everyone and I can't wait to hear everyone else's story.

My SW was 225 and for week 1 I'm 224. That's because I only had 2 days of going at it, lol. I'm confident I'll have more gone next wk!
