So, i set this up mainly for those in my weight loss challenge, but anyone (runner or run-phobic) can join up for extra motivation to get out there and move!
Here is a link to the website for C25K:
http://www.c25k.com/
Which also has pod casts for Ipods which will tell you when to start and stop jogging/running.
But, you can count in your head if you don't have an ipod, or you can just set small distances.
Perhaps, run to the next letterbox, then walk for two?
Or, run to the next power line if you live in the country like me! lol.
And here is a link to the program... I find its good to print it out and keep it on your wall, then you can put a tick on the runs when you have completed them:

I will be running on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays and plan to begin next Monday (7th July) because i like the "orderly-ness" of starting on a Monday lol.
However, feel free to start which ever day you like!
Everyone needs motivation to work out sometimes :) so lets support each other to reach our goals!
Happy running everyone!
YUP :D
thanks for the encouragement everyone! (and cookey, i love your "200 wild stallions" comment ... hahah!! i feel ya on that one :P)
I think I will repeat week 1 again because im getting my wisdom teeth out this friday (eek im nervous...first surgery ever!) so i'm guessing i'll have to take a few days off of running/exercise this weekend to recuperate...
there's a funny thing starting to happen in my brain though... I'm actually looking forward to my run tomorrow morning... INSANITY!!

That insanity you mention??? it's only the beginning!!! running is powerful stuff.
Olivia,
The pain in the a** goes away after a few work outs.
The best thing about a staiotanary bike is that you can stand up (so its like easy jogging - make sure you have plenty of resistance if you do that) and with music you can close your eyes. Thats one thing you cant do running and is soooo cool.
Welcome to the group Lozzle :)
As expected, couldn't do my run today :( I felt so ill and sore, even laying around like a lazy bum was uncomfortable.
But oh well... might have to skip until next monday ![]()
Or drag my BF out for a walk on Friday at least when i'm at his place.
I don't know, means i have to pack sneakers into my gym bag too...
I'm busing in so i can't take my whole bedroom with me.
Keep it up though! you guys are all doing so great!
Did my run today - in good time too. :) It was supposed to be raining this morning, but I think I missed it cause there is a real dark cloud looming over now :)
Hope everyone is okay.
I did a 3.5 mile jog and rode the bike for 10 miles. WOO HOO!!
drag the bf on a walk, restless!!! it;s bonding and fun! ( :
This is such an AWESOME thread. My friend and I set up a goal of doing a 5k, but we didn't have a clue where to begin...the C25K site is PERFECT. I also bought my first bike (it's been 20 years!) and will be swimming when my daughter has her swim team practice because I've set a personal goal to do a mini-triathlon. Good luck to all :).
Damn! i started then stopped. I managed to go back to yoga this past weekend, but i havent made the time to keep up running. i love sleeping in too much. i hate to make excuses but for someone who's been pretty inactive... this might be alot. I'm going to try taking it in baby steps for a while by practicing a couple times a week. i also want to keep up yoga. Wish me luck! :)
I just recently (like today is day 3) started riding the stationary bike I have had for 10+ years. ( : I love my running, but there is something cool about burning so many cals in my house with my music blaring that makes me happy.
hey comomo!! I just started an "early morning runners" support group. that's one of our big questions --- how do you make yourself get up and run vs. sleeping?????
MY answer? I have oodles and gobs more energy when I get up and cardio before starting the rest of my day. And I am a school teacher, so I need that extra boost!!!! come join us on that post if you want! ( :
Thanks for the yay Olivia
. I'm going to get an indoor trainer so I can use the bike inside on rainy days or days when I just can't get to the bike paths. And I'm a schoolteacher too...I'm using the summer to jumpstart my training so I'll (hopefully) stick to it when school starts again.
Ooh it's overcast and 73 today, perfect weather for a run!! I'm about to head out now...see you guys in a bit! :)
Edit: Well I waited too long and by the time I got out it was 79 and sunny. I was almost dying by the end but I did it!! :)
I can't wait for my next run, but a little worried, it will involve running more than walking, but I'm sure I'll be able to do it!
I have a 5k route around my house which imade on mapmyrun and today I did it in 35 minutes which is my best ever time/ walking/running - that is. Still pretty good though :D
good for you, carrie --- it is amazing how a few degrees or some humidity can make all the difference! way to keep going!!
lozzle -- hot dang, girl --- 35 minutes for a 5K is not bad at all!!! you can do it --- half the challenge is just getting out there, and you did ---not just that, you keep coming back for more!!!!
ROCK ON WITH THE RUNNING!!!!!
Hey Olivia...I teach an enhancement class for K-5 called Global Studies...it's so fun. Just did my first c25k workout and it kicked me in the rear, but felt good!
You guys are all doing so great. I just wanted to jump in and say congrats and keep it up! Stick with the running as it gets addictive and the health and weight loss benefits are AMAZING! I started running at the end of January, I started with a running club and was basically on a c25k plan more or less. I did a 5k in March, a 10k at the end of april. I found myself training more and more, and LOVING it. The rush is amazing. My endurance/stamina and my speed were dramatically improving. My CV fitness is, I think, pretty darn great now. Especially when I think back that last christmas I was smoking and really out of shape! In the past 6 months I have quit smoking successfully and lost about 20lbs (including gaining muscle mass so I've lost a lot of body fat).
I am now training for an adventure relay race (24 hours) at the end of this month and a half marathon in october. If I can do that, you all can too! One thing I found helped a lot was doing cross training, working on core and upper body strength helped a bunch.
Believe me keep it up because it's awesome - not only the fringe benefits like weight loss, CV health and relaxation - just actually running.
himantura - thanks for the support, and I'm sure thats coming from everyone!
I really do like running, I tend to feel better when I run!
I'm thinking about doing a 5k later on, when I'm super comfortable! that would be cool.
how FUN FUN FUN, juliebean. I teach (are you ready for the groan?) high school English. I love it, and the kids love me, so usually it is pretty awesome! (minus state reasing and writing assessments, of course)
himantura -- is your profile pic of you and a dolphin??? how cool.... you inspire me to keep doing what I love in the hopes that one day I will be able to write a post like that one!!!!
