I'm a dieting veteran.... up and down the same 20lbs since highschool! I've always lost it on Weight Watchers...but I wanted to try something new. So, here I am. I'm looking to start a group of late 20- early 30 year olds who are interested in losing weight and getting healthy. I'm 5' 9" 160lbs. I'm looking for others that have about 20-30lbs to lose. Hopefully there's some people out there!!
Happy New Year!
I've been on CC for a few months off and on for the last year. I'm currently 5'6 144 and 29. I'm hoping to reach 130. I turn 30 in May and I really would like to be in shape so the big 3-0 won't hit me as hard....
I'm also training for the Avon Breast Cancer Walk in Chicago which is in the end of May. I'm hoping that will be more than enough incentive to help me get in shape and lose weight...
Hey y'all! I'm glad I found this group!
-I'm 5'2-5'3, very curvy (which I love) but at 167 which I don't but the guys seem to..lol...anyway--I'm down from 200 now since Aug and this is my first time dieting. I was about 105 4 years ago and it snuck up on me over 3 years. Very proud of the 30 lbs weight loss so far but I need some motivation and accountability to lose the last 30! Currently a size 10 down from a size 14 and trying to get to a 5/6 by May 3, 2008 (graduation day!) It's very doable as I lost 30 between Aug and Nov and have just been maintaining with minimal exercise. Biggest thing that helped so far was drinking at least 10 glasses of water a day and doing the Leslie Sansone Walk Away the Pounds Express video for the 2 and 3 mile walks (2 miles is 30 minutes brisk walking). Anyway--I'm all for the Sunday weigh-ins!
Current weight: 167 lbs
Goal weight: 130 lbs
Body Fat: 12%
Hi! My name is Jami, 26 and I'm 5'6" currently at around 145 lbs. I recently went from a very physically active job to a sedentary office position. Around the same time my motivation to work out has declined. I would like to get down to around 130-135. I started the CC and have found that my eating habits aren't so bad, I just need to stick with it and get back to working out. I have a trip to Las Vegas planned for early May, so this is my goal to lose the 10-15 lbs by!
Reading everything you guys have posted has been very motivating...let's do it!

Kelly-
You and are in exactly the same boat. My goal is 130 by my 30th in July. I weighed in at 143.8 on Sunday. Let's make those goals together!
That's great that you are doing the Breast Cancer walk. I walked in the Breast Cancer 3-Day in Philly last Oct and it was awesome! Brutal, but awesome. Just be careful cutting calories close to the walk. You really need the carbs for those training walks. I lost some about 3 months before, but once my training walks got over 10 miles, I plateaued because of how much food I had to eat to avoid passing out. I had to train over the summer though, so that stunk.
Good luck and congrats on taking on such an amazing challenge and rewarding experience in the walk.
Hello Magain...I just found this website..tonight actually..I'm 25 5'8" 1851bs...I can't see to lose the weight...the problem is I love to eat...I love food...I'm a nurse and when I'm at work there is so much temptation...people going downstairs to Chick-fillet and getting #1 combos with sweet teas...and here I am eating a freaking lean cuisine...My problem is I start off doing great for a about a day or so...I then become frustrated with still seeing flab on my stomach...and say screw this...I have no willpower..I'm a nurse for goodness sake, I know what to eat...I just love good food...I have gradually gained 20 lbs since college...I'm a terrible dieter...if I could fast forward and see the results then I would stick with it...but at the end of the day I'm faced with food cravings and tempations...any suggestions...I'm at the end of my rope..
Thanks

First off, I should say that I am also a terrible dieter. So far, I have made it a week without blowing it, so I'm pretty happy about that. I work downtown in an area heavily populated by yummy restaurants and take-out food. There is also the candy and chip box in the building. I have made it so far by making sure to bring plenty of healthy food with me. I always bring more than my "allotted amount" for lunch, just in case...that way, if I get hungry or feel the need to eat later in the day, I at least have my yogurt or peaches or nuts.
hi everyone...just had my first day back to work after 5 months off with my baby...depressing! now i have a terrible headache and want nothing more than a big cocktail and a brownie sundae! i guess i'll have to settle with a yogurt and some broiled fish. can't stand to think that i have to do it all again tomorrow, but i was very good today-eating my whole wheat pita with hummus & veggies and an apple. i actually still have 750 calories left...maybe a diet hot chocolate as a treat for dessert? Hope that you all are doing well.
I propose we all aim to lose between 2-5 pounds by the end of January. Once you hit that mark post it so we can all share your joy.
Tell us how you did it and help keep the rest of us motivated.
Also-since lots of us have 10 yr reunions this year, let's set a reunion goal as well.
AND....a workout goal since that seems to be the problem-a few of us are out of the exercise groove. Make sure you check in and fess up if you cheat and miss your workout!
--------------------------------------------- ---------------------------
Current: 155 at 5'2"
Overall goal: 130 Reunion Goal (August): 140
Workout goal: 20-60 minutes every other day (once my sprain has healed).

Hello Maryyy,
Girl, we ALL get unmotivated! I've been at this for a few years now (between losing and maintaining my weight). A few things that have helped me along the way are get a "before" picture and keep it in the car so you'll drive past McDonalds and you won't stop, or keep it at work so you won't be tempted to order out.
Also, try different recipes. Get a low-cal cookbook, or check out Weight Watchers recipes. Make exciting dishes and be prepared so you won't have to try and be healthy on the spot. There's more than one way to diet and exercise, so try something different. You've lost 32 lbs. in about 8 months! Do you know how amazing that is!?!?!?!?!
I'll probably be black-listed from this forum for this next piece of advice, but whenever I get frustrated or lose motivation I change my outlook and I stay away from the scale. I work out and eat healthy foods and focus on how I FEEL, not the number under my feet. Isn't that what we're all after anyway . . . feeling better about ourselves?
Okay, I'll step down from my soap box. Keep up the good work, and invite someone whose company you enjoy out for a walk. That always helps (and it's exercise too!).
carolinagirl66 I think you have to find some healthy food that is truly DELICIOUS so you don't feel shortchanged when you can't go for the junk. A nurse friend of mine makes spinach lasagna for a treat - vegetable sauce from scratch with practically no oil, 1% cottage cheese in the middle and low-fat cheddar on top. You could take a bunch of carrots and celery and eat those till you can't take anymore and then "treat" yourself on the last break to a small portion of the lasagna and an oreo.
I love the idea of losing 5 lbs by the end of January. I'm 26 years old, 5'3", currently at 128, looking to be at 120 by Valentine's Day. Workout goal: an additional 30 minutes of cardio a day.
Hi yall,
29 as of december, but I think of myself as 30...lol I guess i am just bracing for impact.
192 as of this morning, my goal is 175.
Black Belt in Shao-lin Kung fu, Major Microbiology Minnor Chemistry, currently in oil and gass... I know lots of facts but have a hard time putting my knowledge into action! So don't get mad at the smart ass.
body wise I techniqly have a small frame, but I have always been Big, Small feet small hands but wide set shoulders and hips, big boobs. It's the Russian/Norweign I guess. I weighed 160 in new Orleans when I bartended... but all of my friends were worried that I had lost the weight from Cocaine... I never did it but I guess I looked like a Junkie... YUCK... So 175 is my limit of smallness.
mlshores79 & lilsmiter I think we are about in the same boat...I am getting ready to turn 29 in March and decided this was enough. I started counting Jan 3 weighing in at 199 now at 197. I still have over 60 pounds to lose so I won't be going anywhere for a while...
I like the challenge of 2-5 by the end of Jan. Is that from now until then, or since the beginning of Jan? I vote for the latter, since I lost 4 this week :)
My exercise goal is to do something every day, even if it is only 15 min of pilates. Today is the first day I've missed, but it was my first day back to work after 3 yrs of being home with my kids. So, I chose to put them to bed and relax. I'll walk longer tomorrow.
Good luck to everyone and keep up the GREAT work!
I think this is a fantastic challenge. My weigh-in is tomorrow, so wish me luck with the 2-5 lbs by the end of January.
My workout goal: Be able to run 5 miles (at 7 mph) without breaks by the end of summer. (Currently, I can run 2).
My short-term weight goal: Get to 160 lbs (lose 15 lbs) by the end of May (my birthday).
My long-term weight goal/reunion goal: Get to 150 lbs (lose 25 lbs) and maintain the weight. My reuinion isn't for another year and a half.
Thanks for all the motivation! This program is great. Logging my calorie intake has finally made me accountable for everything I eat in a day. It makes me mindful of what I'm eating, rather than eating out of boredom.
I'd also like to set a challenge for anyone who is already at their weight goal: be the same weight at the start of the month as you are at the end of the month. I think that in some respects, maintaining your current weight can be harder than losing weight. Congrats to everyone who's at their goal now!
