Sherry~hope you have fun grilling.
Soraya~good luck with your red carpet special. YAY on the fridge, hope it helps you get back onto track.
Cindy~WTG with your BBQ. Isn't it amazing how bad food haunts you on your runs.
Karey~ hope you kept yourself on track working the weekend away.
Joan~ wow on the sand dollar, that's a really cool find.
I didn't do to bad for my race, I ran the 10k in 1:01:23. I was hoping to run under an hour but I gave 100% so I'll take it. The whole forth was lots of fun. I didn't do bad with alcohol, only had a few drinks. My down fall was all the treats, everyone brought a desert and then they left them here. I just can not throw them out, so the plan is to feed as much to the hubby and the kids ;P
Our fireworks show was AWESOME!!! We even got a few cheers from the neighbors and honks from people driving down the road. We started lighting off about 8:30 and didn't finish until after 11. We had a smaller crew then we were expecting but the conversation was fun and the show was kick ass.
Tomorrow is back to training for the half marathon I want to do in Sept. I might run a 5k in two weeks, not going to go all out just a "fun run" as part of my long run. Otherwise no more races until Sept where I have the half marathon and the following week either a 5 mile or 10 mile. Then there are 2 other races I might do after that.
Well I competely blew it Saturday night, did pretty well until then and the complete disaster, back on track today is all I can say, I did jog my 2 miles yesterday, going to try 3 miles today. I thougth I would do a mile at the track after I ran the neighborhood but it was so hot and going from street to track is not a good thing, I much rather run on the street, probalby not real good for us but oh well, so I have tracked out 3 miles through the neighborhood here in town wher traffic is not heavy and I feel comfortable and will try that tongiht, there's quite a few hills with teh 3 miles so I don't always jog up those.
Cassy-congrats on the race, I think that's a great time!!!! You need to come to Arkansas in November when we have the marathon here!!! and they have the half marathon too, I keep saying I would like to try that but I know my 2 miles of jogging wouldn't touch being able to do the half marathon, I have no training whatsoever like you have been doing. Glad to hear you had great 4th, we went and watched fireworks, misquitos are too bad at our house to get out to do them ourselves!!! Sweets were my downfall too......today is another day.
Grilling chicken for supper and some cabbage and potatoes in the crock pot so should be able to keep it healthy for supper!! Summer is going to vacation bible school with my mom so I can go home straight from work and pick her up later tonight. Colby my step son is in St. Louis playing baseball, Little League Workd Series, they won both of their games yesterday and he made some great plays, he's catching and threw 2 guys out at second base, he turned 14 yesterday and went to the Arch, so I know he had a great birthday.
Sherry~if you are serious about wanting to do a half marathon in Nov. you have plenty of time to train between now and then. Here's a great starter plan for you to look at. It has you running only 3 days a week. If you want to look around in the training section you might find a different plan that would work for you instead. If you are able to run 3-4 miles now you should have no problems as long as you stick to a plan.
I'm back on track today, for the most part. I did have a piece of strawberry rhubarb pie. The sweets are almost out of the house. I kept my calories in check and I did my workout. I finally lost a toe nail, it was the one I blistered up bad during the marathon. Didn't bother me during my run, it just looks ugly.
I also spent a good couple hours cleaning out the camper we acquired from hubby's grandma (the pack rat). There is lots of usable things in there but boy there is a bunch of other crap that we need to clean out. It's a 1970's camper that has pretty much just sat around and been a storage unit. The kids are very excited about having a camper to go camping with.
Oh my g'ness. I used to be like 154 at my heaviest and then I moved and I wasn't eating all the time from stress so I dropped to 149 and now I'm at 147 pretty regularly. The goal is 125. I have to watch it though, my job serves **** food. I'm trying to run every morning save sundays. I have no idea of the distance, but I run for 20 mins away from home and then turn around and come back. It's hard though. I need some motivation!!! And it's probably a bad thing that I smoke, too, huh? Ahh!
Well food is getting back under control, thank goodness, I did have a mini candy bar today and a few pringles, stress moment but over all it's been a decent last 2 days.....came home at lunch and the air was out at the house OH MY is all I have to say....1 we do not have the money for something major like this to happen right now and 2, with our luck it will not be cheap......but it turned out not to be quite as bad as we thought and even better hubbies boss is taking care of it for us.....he has a wonderful boss they have worked together for almost 15 years.....so thankfull you just don't even know.
Was able to do a 3 mile run last night, it's just so hot here right now it's so sad..., I'm going to try to go run here in just a little bit, I don't think it's going to cool down until it's too dark so I have to get it over with. I was excited about getting the 3 miles in for sure....it's got some good hills so it's an even better workout plus I did it last night in 33 minutes, so proud.
Cassy- thanks for that website, I know I would definitely have to work on my speed, I stay pretty constant when I jog, I don't really do a full run guess I need to start doing that here and there. Sweets are gone from my house, but now is when I'll crave them, glad to see you are on track. Hate to hear that about your toe nail, I have to get some new socks.
immyjo-welcome, the ladies here are great and we are being a little slow right now guess we are all busy, but come on in, it will be worth your time!!!Just take it a day at a time.
I heard from Brigett, she said all is well.
immyjo~ welcome and good luck with your goals.
Sherry~ if you were able to go 3 miles in 33 min. you are doing great. Don't focus on the speed, keep to the distance for now. Speed will come on it's own time. FYI 11:00 min. mile pace is a good starter pace. Keep in mind to increase your mileage by about 10% a week, so if your running 10 miles a week, add 1 mile...you get the idea. Then every 3-4 weeks cut back your mileage by about 25% to give yourself an easy week.
I'm starting to track my weight again. I need to hold myself more accountable. I'm back up to 149
, I have no one to blame but myself. Just have to kick myself in the butt and follow the program. This weekend is my kids birthday party and if all goes the way it's supposed to we will be without our own kids for 2 full weeks. But I can't allow myself to eat like crap and hit the bars. Gotta just keep with the program. I can do it... (I think)?
Yes you can! I find it helps to make a committment that I will weigh myself no matter what so if I have a bad eating day, I have to face the facts on the scale the next day.
Sherry- Running in the heat is tough. Good work on not using it as an excuse to slack!
Anyone ever tried mashed squash? I read a recipe for it in Men's Health of all places and I'm interested in trying it.
Well I posted in my journal...margarita's last night, today stomach not good, not strong with alcohol just too many.....
I did the elliptical last night for 25 minutes and my knees and shins were killing me, is that normal? I think I'm trying to keep my feet flat and that's why they hurt, then I converted it to the stationary bike and did 10 more minutes and then did some arm and stomach exercises, but totally blew it all drinking the margaritas. Oh well......back to the jog tonight, that just makes me feel better.
Cassy- thanks for the tips so I need to focus more on distance than time right now, I think I can handle that, I will keep at the 3 mile at least for next week and then maybe add some more...the heat is a big factor right now. I know you are going to get back on track, focus and you will succeed....Happy Birthday to your kids...hope you get the little break, that's always nice. YOU CAN DO IT!!!!
Cindy-Never tried mashed squash but if it's good let me know, we have alot of yellow summer squash and I don't know alot to do with it. I made a recipe last night, it used hamburger meat, squash, onion, whole kernel corn and green chilies, it was good but it was missing something, kinda bland. Yes, the humidity is awful all the time here in Arkansas so it feels even hotter, but I really trying to keep up with the jogging, it makes me feel really good and I think it's tightening my stomach some and that's my main problem area or the one I focus on that is....lots of loose skin.
srogers- Your recipe sounds good, but I good see how it might be bland. It sounds kind of like something my mom used to make that had all those ingredients but had green olives and raisins in it (and no green chilies). Sounds kinda weird I know, but it was delicious! I'll let you know if I try the mashed squash. I think I'll pick some up the next time I'm at the store. Stop beating yourself up about the margaritas. Accept that it happened and move on. It sounds like you're already on the right track by planning your run for tonight!
hi my ladies :) how is everyone!!! I just finished reading through everyone's blog... thanx for the kudo's and last night was show day so it was crazy running around after I didn't get home until midnight and had a have a glass of wine, well had like 3 but needed to decompress and ran the whole day through my head over and over again.. if anyone ever watches "Clean House" on Style look out for my special doesn't air until sept... the 100th episode Award Show... Weight was 140 yesterday....how I dont' know, but didn't do real great last night but will be back on track today, we went out with friends.
Cindy- the recipe was allright but I don't know about using green olives and rasins, I don't care for olives so that would strike me out for sure.
Soraya- how exciting!!! I love Clean House, it's amazing what they do, I can't wait to watch and say "I know her" be proud!!! Bloat, period is an awful thing because you know it doesn't just happen with ttotm, eat something that doesn't agree with you, too much salt, it's always something. Get back on track with the jump rope, gotta take care of yourself.
Not much planned for the weekend....it's so hot already this mornign I didn't go out to jog like I planned, hope to get it in tonight, the humidity is awful, last ngith it was muggy and like almost 90* at midnight:(

Is 140 gaining or losing for you? (I'd love to get to 140 - been stuck at 142 for 8 days now - which is fine, at least it's not going up at all, but I'd like to see that number move DOWN).
Soraya- I loved reading your post.
No longer run for me today since I woke up to a thunder storm this morning. Did a long-ish cardio workout at the gym, but it's not the same. Last night I went out for drinks with friends and drank only 2/3rds of one light beer - felt really good about that.
Have a good weekend everyone!
hi girls
srogers75 - Thanks :) soo happy you love that show ... so when it's hot is there an excercise dvd that you can do at home?? 90 at midnight? where do you live in the desert? no seriously? I went to a wedding in palm spring, ca it was 112 degrees during the day, I don't know how the locals handle that??? but you get snow too don't you?
cindy44 - thnx and I'm excactly where you are 142... I hope to break out of it been tossing my weight around for over 9 months in the 140's :( so over it!
My TOM was over this AM woohoo! and my weight dropped from 146 to 142! how crazy that we hold that much water inside ourselves -- now I just wish that I could get another 5 pounds of water I'm sure I'm holding onto too :) that would be nice... really it's the fat -- gotta get this fat off of me! the fridge has been helping, I no longer have to feed myself perserveratives and have a fridge full of fruits and vegetables now --- made my famous sangria last night for a girlfriend and it was organice and delicious!!! did good on the eating at 11p we decided to go to this jazz joint and I ordered the quesidilla's --- then these two guys from the band kinda cute but really just meatheads came and sat w/us and flirted --- I looked down at my plate and was like 'WHAT ARE YOU DOING?!' IT'S MIDNIGHT AND YOUR GONNA PUT THAT **** IN YOUR MOUTH! YOU JUST WORKED OUT TODAY AND ATE LOVELY WHAT THE HELL SORAYA!" sorry so this was all going on in my head -- so I had a quarter bite, felt grossed out and bagged the rest! thank god I am so proud of myself for doing that -- and it shows my stomach is flat this am and I'm in my workout clothes :) so I'm happy --- my daughter is laughing at me and my post and is like 'Mommy what are 'meatheads' ??? Hilarious!!!! the joys of motherhood! ok ya'll have a healthy day oh and PS it was my day off yesterday and for the first time in my life I went to the movies by myself and finally saw 'Sex and the City' !!!! oh I miss my NY!!!! it was funny how samantha gained 15 pounds after she moved to 'LA' ... HaHa I can relate!

Cindy- nope 140 is my regualr, the lowest I have gotten is 139 and this is where I want to be, I just want to stay under 145....yeah I would like to say I'm 130 something but I'm happy with 140 and now to get toned. It rained here last night, didn't get a run in yesterday or anything. Way to go on teh beer, that's awesome.
Soraya- Northeast Arkansas is where I live, I'm about an hour from Memphis Tennesee, humidity is awful here so that just adds to the heat, makes it where you just can't hardly breathe. Yes we do get snow at times, that's why I love living here, we have different seasons:) I'm so proud of you and your battle against the quesidilla....that's just freakin' awesome!!! Okay that was a little much but it was great that you were able to step away from it. Keep up the great work.
I did okay until supper last night, pizza at like 8:30, had I known we would wait on friends to eat that late I would have went for my jog, so maybe I'll get that in today. Summer has her vacation bible school program tonight so I'll have to get it in before then. Hope for a better eat day today, will be fixing nachos for lunch, have been craving them like crazy so I need to eat them for lunch so I don't have that hanging in my belly late tonight.
srogers; that makes a lot of sense to eat cravings early then to have them hanging on in belly late night, that's sometimes my problem I tend to avoid the bad stuff and do good all day then at night give in and then it sits on my belly too ;( ... but the past few days been doing really really good with not eating like a crazy person so maybe it is the regular Fridge(?) since I've gotten my regular sized fridge I find myself not walking into the kitchen as much --- I think it's that thing - you know --- you always want what you can't have --- type deal maybe because I was lacking food / regular food in my house I just kept stuffing myself w/crap because I felt like I didn't have enough? I don't know -- now that I know my fridge is full I don't feel the need to eat as much... who know's hopefully by the end of this month I will be able to see if it truly made a difference in my life :)

Hi Ladies! I'm still hanging around reading everyone's posts... haven't had much exciting going on lately, been working a lot. Husband and I went to dinner last night at Uno Chicago Grill. I love that place, that food is awesome and they have lots of healthy options too. I was a good girl, I ordered the Baked Stuffed Chicken (stuffed with cheese, spinach, broccoli, tomatoes) and for sides I chose the steamed broccoli and the roasted seasonal vegetables - yum! Oh, and I didn't eat my breadstick, which was over 200 calories (but sooo good) and drank a diet pepsi, no alcohol. :P Down to 146 lbs this morning, from 147.8 Tuesday.
Hope you all are having a good weekend!!
soraya- Glad that the fridge is making such a difference! It's GREAT to feel in control of your food. And good work on the quesadilla - I dont know if I could have done that! I hear ya about getting out of the 140s. Uhhhhhhhhhhh (frustrated sigh) it's so hard to do!!!!
srogers- i went to my parents this weekend in missouri and oh my goodness i am now SUPER impressed that you can run in that weather - i couldnt breathe let alone run! (i grew up in that weather but it's funny how you forget what REAL humidity is like!) hope the nachos and eating today went well.
k9stylist- Congrats on the good weekend & healthy weight loss!
Alright here it comes... I've been doing SO WELL - for 2 weeks I ate my calorie limit, felt good, and was even at 141lbs this morning. This evening, I got back from a great road trip and then proceeded to eat everything in sight in my apartment finishing with some oatmeal with real brown sugar and a trip to the ice cream store for a grand daily calorie total of....4000!!! I know I'm really stressed about this week and was tired from the trip, but I know better than to eat from emotions like this and I'm pretty darn angry (and kind of confused) with myself. I used to emotionally overeat more often, but I really worked on not doing that and I thought I was over it. Ugh. Anyway, just wanted to confess I guess. I'm SO not looking forward to waking up tomorrow, weighing myself, and having to work out feeling all bloated and gross. I'll post my weight tomorrow (I'm guessing 150 - gonna be a fun monday - glad I really helped myself deal with that stress by creating some more stress - excellent).
145.0lbs. could have been worse. Happy Monday everyone!
Cindy-today is a new day so pick your head up and make it a great one, I think we all do the emotional eating just don't beat yourself up over it and put the right foot forward and you will get back on track. Thankfully we had some rain Saturday night and helped cool things off just a bit.
Karey-great job on the choices you made eating out and it sounds like it was wonderful!!!! Way to go on the weight #, I know that makes you happy.
Soraya- whatever works to make our bodies happy, it's such a mind game!!! I'm glad to hear that you are able to stuff the new fridge so you have better options for yourself. I think you will see great results by the end of the month, just keep up the good work.
I had a piece of peanut butter toast yesterday morning and then some nachos for lunch, not many chips, some refried beans a little taco meat and then lettuce and salsa and a little shredded cheese, don't feel that it was too bad then I kept myself busy and had 4 peanut butter crackers for a snack later, went to summer's bible school program and then had a scoop of ice cream with nuts and a little chocolate, they were really cute. It was about 7:45 when we got home and I have to say I just wanted to sit on the couch, but I didn't......I went to the track!!!! I was just going to do 2 miles since it was later and I don't like being out by myself if it's getting close to dark....well I ended up doing my 3 miles and I'm so glad I did....and was able to finish before it even got a dusk outside!!! I didn't weigh this mornign, think I will start weighing on Friday's to see if that will help me get through the weekends.
