The Adoption process-- Emergency
Ok, I am going to cut the chase because, its a long story behind it. Me and my wife have been trying for a baby for awhile now, and we ha vent be too successful. Couple of years ago we had a miscarriage which ROCKED our world. ( i wouldn't wish that on my worst enemy) Dealing with that, God saw fit to bless us with a GOD daughter who we treat like our own. We spoil her love her, she calls me daddy and my wife mama..
The GOD mother is pregnant with her 3 child ( god Help these YOUNG people). She called the other night and said that she doesnt want to have the baby. and that she wants to give to us, because she knows our situation. SO
the question is we want to adopt the baby, and everything, pretty much is done deal as far as the baby is concern, But we want it to be legal. Has anyone gone through this situation, with adoption.
Please I dont know anyone with adopted kids, I dont know where to start...
I google it and saw you have to have a grip (alot of money) to adopt a kid!
I am open a open book if you have any questions, I dont mind answering...
I would contact an attorney in your area to find out what needs to be done. In a situation like this, I would defintley obtain legal counsel because in order for you to be the child's legal parent or guardian (sign school forms, medical forms, ect.) it needs to go through the court system.
Is it really expensive? i mean I know it is.. but there a cheaper way of getting the baby? other the kid nap LMBO
You should be able to meet with legal counsel for a free consultation at which point they can provide you with an estimated cost of services.
I've heard that private adoptions can be quite expensive but I've not been through one myself and I don't know anyone who has.
I think the costs are higher when it's a private adoption through an agency. If it's someone that you know likely you will pay their medical costs, prenatal care costs and maybe some additional funds in good faith. I also agree you should talk to an attorney ASAP and get legal advice. And yes, please make sure it's all done legally!!! That will provide you with long-term peace of mind.
Good luck and keep us posted! We'll be rooting for you.
I found this, I hope it helps!
It's called an "open" adoption and it is more common than some would have us believe. It doesn't have to be really expensive, but you will need to find a lawyer who has done open adoptions before. They are a little different than regular adoptions.
I have gone through the process successfully from the other side of your situation. The recipients of the baby did not have to pay hospital bills and such because they were already taken care of. They did not have to put up any money. In fact, they were told not to, since it would seem to the judge (who had the final say) that they had "bought" the baby.
I do not want to go into more detail on an open forum. PM me if you would like to talk. By the way, the rules differ dramatically depending on where you live. Bear that in mind when getting advice.
I just want to say thank you for everyone chiming in

I am so happy for you and your wife. Congrats! I hope everything works out smoothly for you.
Your local court should have what's called "legal aid," which is available at no cost to the public. call your county court and check them out... they'll be able to direct you to appropriate help if they can't help you.
congratulations!
