Tips to losing a few Kgs before conceiving?
Me and my partner are going to start trying for a baby end of august/begining of september and I want to lose a couple of kilos. Since posting in this forum last Ive lost and then regained 3 kgs. I eat relatively healthy, I find though that im hungry very often and I think I may over eat because of this. I have spoken to one of my friends about it and she said that when she was on BCP she was always hungry and that stopping them should help me lose a few kilos. Ive put on 10kgs since starting the pill and Im going off the pill on Monday to give my body a chance to recover. Has anyone else experienced a change in hunger/lost weight when stopping the pill? Also what are some tips on losing weight that you have found to work? Im going to sit down tomorrow and reacces what I eat on a daily basis and see where I can make healthier changes and any tips or advice is muchly appreciated!!
Hi Hailee88,
I'm so excited you've started this thread... and that we are in so similar situations.
I've been off the pill since April, and waiting for 2-3 cycles to see how my body recovers after years under BCP. I haven't found differences in how hungry am I... I've been working out for two months now in a consistent way, to strength my body and loose some weight before we even start trying (we'll start on September 4th... our 9th anniversary).
I don't have kids yet, but I can give you two tips to lose some weight...
1. Start logging everything you eat in this site, is incredible how much awareness that can give you, not only about how many calories but the quality of the food you are ingesting. Add veggies, and fruit (limited)... I've started eating a lot more fish since I started logging, it's low in calories, so you can have a bigger portion than red meat or poultry, or combine it with carbos and still have a great, healthy, satisfying meal. Also, switch to whole grain... bread, cereal, pasta, rice... everything you can. It has more fiber and will help you to feel satisfied for longer.
2. If you have a chance start exercising... anything from walking, running, yoga, to kickbox or cardio will help you burn calories while conditioning your body for pregnancy... I've been told to start Pilates or Yoga 2-3 months before you try to get pregnant so you can continue exercising the first months of pregnancy and right after...
What kinds of food are you eating that you feel hungry all the time? Are you logging your food intake? Do you exercise?
Would love to hear more from you,
Have a great weekend!
Hi Perluti
I really admire your committment!! Congratulations on your anniversary! What a perfect time to start trying! I find I get hungry about an hour after I eat anything, it doesnt seem to matter what it was or how much I ate, but I do try to resist eating anything for a few hours and I tend to drink milky drinks such as hot milos to try and fill the gap a bit (which probably isnt good on reflection)
I already eat wholegrain bread (not a fan of white) Ill most definately change the pasta and rice to wholegrain too. I could also up my veggie intake. Thanks so much for your tips and advice and good luck on your journey!!
