I just wondered on average how much weight you ladies put on from pregnancy? Is losing pregnancy weight the same as losing 'normal' weight (eg fat, too much junk food not enough excersise) or is there more to it because it hasnt come from unhealthy lifestyle like most overweight people? Thanks
hello!
im currently pregnant at 30 weeks and have gained 12 pounds!
i started at 168 and now weigh 180!
i am eating healthy, and staying away from the eating for two belief that people mention! i don't eat for two because i dont want to struggle with extra weight after my pregnancy!
i have three friends that have only gainned 15 or 16 pounds in their whole pregnancy, but while pregnant they would do exercise workouts, i myself am walking 45 minutes daily except sundays!
good luck!
Hi,
With my first child I put on over 2stone and no matter how hard I tried joining CC and going to the gym 4times a week for 2hours and working out at home I didn't start loosing anything till my daughter was 9months old - the Dr told me it was probably the surge of hormones still flying around my body and once they start to settle Ishould see a difference which is what happened, and I managed to loose 30lbs in 5months which was nice!
I am however at week 20 on my second pregnancy and I have gained 8lbs so far, I try to eat healthily and I am always active with work, my daughter, house work etc so I'm hoping not to gain so much this time round.
yea i think the main thing is to stay active while pregnant, well as long as your pregnancy isn't a high risk one or something then there should be no problem with being active!
You know I've got to add that I wish I would have tried harder to get a to a healthy weight pre-pregnancy. I had alot of pain walking while pregnant and while my Dr never blammed it on my weight I can't help but think being 56 lbs overweight made things much harder for me and my joints. Oh and buying larger sized pregnant clothing is really hard. That was another bummer.
I might have a second baby and I really wish I was doing better with the weight loss but at least now I'm 37 lbs from my goal weight (and dropping) so I really hope that makes a big difference for me. Also, since I do worry that I'll gain more the second time and it might be harder to get the weight off. Anyways, even if you can drop 5-10 lbs before getting pregnant you should go for it.
When I got pregnant, I was about 10 lbs over my perfect (for me) weight. During pregnancy I gained about 32 lbs, of which about 22 lbs was lost fairly easily (well, our baby was 7.75 lbs, a few lbs for water, a few for placenta, boobs, etc.), but they remaining 10 stuck around... for 2 years now. So now I'm about 20 lbs over my dream weight... In retrospect, I should have been more careful about my choices, and not just writing everything off as "oh, it's for the baby"...
