Healthy smoothies!
Hey everyone. If you're like me--you're a smoothie lover! I'm always looking for new ideas, so if you have any smoothies you've tested/tried please list them! Make sure they're healthy!
I'll start us off:
I heard about this one and tried it. Mano smoothie:
About a cup of frozen mango chunks; some fat-free plain (or vanilla) yogurt; a packet of truvia (or any low-cal sweetener) If there's such a thing as mango yogurt you may want to use that instead; I think it would enhance the mango flavor. or just use more mangoes! If you're concerned, it's probably low-calorie given the ingredients.
I really like this idea - but sadly i dont have any recipes to contribute!
Hhaha thanks=D Apparently no one else does:*(
bummer!!!
you are going to cry when you try this, it is so good!
i call it peach pie smoothie and i made it by mistake hehe!
1 cup frozen peaches
1 cup skim milk
6 oz (i use light and fit) peach yogurt
packet of splenda and about 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon, i dont measure
blend it all together then put a little bit of fat free whipped cream on top and drizzle honey over it (dont forge the honey!)
BEST SMOOTHIE EVER--YOULL AGREE.
Youll need splenda, fresh grapes, fresh strawberrys, ice, a blender, and a strainer (optional).
1) Pour water (no more than 1/4 cup) and 4-5 ice cubes in you blender first. Putting these in first will help the smoothie blend easier.
2) Then add at least 50 grapes. Again, you want to put these in second because it ensures the strawberrys will blend easier.
3) For every 50 grapes, add 3-4 chopped strawberrys. For a decent size smoothie, add at least 80 grapes and 6 strawberrys.
4) Add (at most) 1/4 cup of splenda. I would recommend a little less.
5) Blend
6) If you dont want grape peel stuck in your teeth, STRAIN IT! =)
7) Enjoy.
I know it sounds odd and it only has 2 types of fruit, but me and my twin love these. They are sooo good and keep you full.
Super Healthy Kale Smoothie:
1 cup silk almond milk (original flavor)
1 large banana
1/2 cup frozen strawberries
a dash of cinnamon
1-2 cups chopped fresh kale leaves
go ahead...look up the incredible food value in the kale.
blend blend blend. if you can see pieces of kale, it's not blended enough. blend until you think there's no way it's not blended enough and then blend it a little bit more.
you can use any frozen berries you want, but dont leave out the banana. unless you REALLY like the taste of raw kale (and not many do) then you want that banana in there.
I don't recognize most of these ingredients. It's probably good, but I like to keep with simple ingredients.
OK, I'll add mine. It's quite good, tastes almost like a shake and is quite filling:
2 cups skim milk
1 cup frozen strawberries
1/2 banana
1 scoop EAS 100% Pure Whey Protein Powder (vanilla)
2 teaspoons maltitol
2 tablespoons psyllium powder
Throw it all in a blender, blend, pour...enjoy.
This is actually my lunch on many occasions as it fills me up and keeps me going.
1 cup skim milk
1 banana
1 scoop choc whey powder
1 tsp/tble spoon instant coffee (depending how strong i want it)
6 icecubes
blend for a min or 2
1cup skim milk
1 scoop vanilla whey
1/2 a frozen banana
1/4 cup walnut powder
1/4 cup plain yogurt
blend for 1-2min
1cup skim milk
1 scoop choc whey
1 tble spoon peanut butter
1/2 cup corn flakes
blend for 1-2 min
This is a fairly simple smoothie, but it's a nice staple. The bananas and frozen blueberries give it a thick, creamy texture.
*0.5 c. frozen blueberries
*1 med. banana
*0.5 c. - 1.0 c. milk (depending on how thick you like it)
Blend for 2 minutes.
I start my morning off with this smoothie:
1/2 cup frozen blueberries
1/2 cup frozen strawberries
1/2 - 3/4 cup light vanilla soy milk
1/4 cup vanilla greek yogurt
1 teaspoon honey
1/2 teaspoon vanilla
(1/2 frozen banana - optional)
The frozen fruit work in place of ice, it is pretty thick so you can add more light vanilla soy milk if you want it thinner. You could add some wheat germ, or ground flax seed for fiber if you chose.
Sounds YUMMY!!
It is. I have it almost every morning. I have used fresh fruit, but then you have to add ice to thicken it, so I prefer frozen. And living out in the mid west (SD and MT), it is often hard to get good fresh fruit in the winter, it isn't very flavorful so frozen is tastier.
I'm not very creative, but this is fairly inexpensive too...
- milk/almond milk...
- frozen blueberries
- frozen raspberries/blackberries
- frozen strawberries
- whipped cream on top :)
