help me use up a ton of sour cream!

Quote  |  Reply

accidentally bought costco tub of sour cream instead of cottage cheese.
warning - not really a 'cook' so simpler better but cant be choosy!

DOESNT NEED TO BE DIET - not for me but boyfriend / family.
Aside from dip which will help, what else?

maybe a baked cake or muffins that uses some which i could freeze?
maybe a sauce that use more than a few tablespoons?

Google sour cream chocolate cake.

I found one that uses 2cups of sc.

thanks - betting i could make those into muffins (cupcakes) for freezing.

On Sunday I had to throw together a side dish to take to a pot luck. I didn't want to shop and didn't have much in the fridge. I boiled some potatoes chopped into 1" squares. I browned some bacon and added chopped onions, garlic, salt and pepper. I took about a cup of sour cream and added paprika and cumin.

I drained the potatoes and while still hot poured the bacon, onions & garlic mix over them. Then I added the sour cream mix and tossed.

This tasted awesome as a warm side dish. It was even good cold.

i bought a tub of full fat flavored yogurt accidentally yesterday and a day later i went back and they let me exchange it at kroger even without a receipt,  i think people do this thing alot,  o maybe try that,  if not  ya make a lot of freezable baked goods, its always good to have something home baked at home you can defrost if someone shows up at your house or your family can just eat them all.

sour cream sugar cookies. mmm...

bran muffins w/ sour cream

tiramisu with sour cream instead of mascarapone? it would use up a LOT but you probably need to add extra sugar to balance the tartness

cheesecake!!!!!!! look for a recipe w/ more sour cream than cream cheese

hope this helps :P

Use it as sauce for mushrooms?
