i hate eating fish! does anyone know any recipe to cook fish which can make it taste better and delicious??
There are so many variations, but my favorite lately has just to lightly mist some white fish fillets (tilapia, mahi mahi, etc.) with olive oil, coat them with some herbed panko bread crumbs, and then broil until done.
You could also try fish tacos - a great variation and you can spice it up with some really good salsa.
However, if you just hate eating fish, there's no rule saying that you have to eat it in the first place - there are plenty of other sources of lean protein. But getting good recipes to experience a particular dish a different way is a great idea. Looking up recipes in the CC database would be a good start.
Fish is already delicious. You just don't like it. My advice is to not eat it. Why torture yourself?
Instead, chicken and turkey breast are low in calories and high in protein. You can also get protein from legumes like beans and lentils.
Can you fathom Salmon? I used to adore this (don't eat fish anymore, unless I'm on holiday, and then Calimari and Prawns seem to always find their way on my plate..)
I used this recipe so many times, and it turned my fish-hating grandmother into liking it.
Fresh salmon fillet
Olives (I used black, but green are nice too)
Seasoning to taste (sea salt/cracked pepper and spices are gorgeous)
Pierce the salmon fillet so you have an equal number of 'holes' (keep the bits you take out to one side)
wrap an olive in a basil leaf and place it within the holes so you have what looks like a salmon with screws sticking in it..
season, drizzle olive oil over it sparingly and wrap in foil so you have a 'parcel'
put in oven, or on a bbq until just cooked so it's still juicy and the herbs have seeped through the fish (I normally have it in for 12 mins on 170)
whilst cooking, take the left over bits of salmon, mix with creme freshe or low fat yoghurt, seasoning and blend until you have a thickish consistancy, and viola, you have a lovely, low fat spread for crackers!
but as stated, if you don't like fish... don't try it :)
If you like tuna, I do recomend Salmon but only fresh salmon, not the prepacked/canned stuff. But a good teryaki Marinade will work. i like to use the mcCormick dry marinade that you can add your own oil/vinager/water. Or if you want your own marinade i recomend combining low sodium soy sauce, ground ginger, black pepper, garlic and some green onion(you know the small ones) or shallots(dont use salt, the soy sauce still has plenty in it). Let it marinate overnight and grill the next day it will be so good and have brown rice to go w. it. I like to make it spicy sometimes so I add some tabasco to it after i cook it. Grilling it is about 15 min on each side. Dont forget to oil the grill or use a cage when making salmon.

Then sautee some garlic in a pan (no oil needed) and add your fish in and cook. You can dip the fish in breadcrumbs first if you like, or add herbs. Serve with a nice sauce and sides.
what is it that you don't like about fish? is it all seafood or just fish?
personally I hate most seafood. But I do like tuna and salmon. It's partly the fishy taste I don't like, but w/most seafood it's the texture. I find that getting salmon and tuna steaks really fresh and then grilling or broiling them w/ some olive oil and herbs and a little lemon juice is very good. I also oddly enough love sushi, also the fresher the better.
I do hate most whitefish I know people say they're supposed to taste less fishy but they taste more fishy to me. Tilapia isn't too bad, it's pretty mild and tends to take on the flavor of whatever you cook it w/so if you cook it w/something that has a strong flavor that you really like.
Here's a tuna recipe I really enjoy. It's more of a salad and I like to eat it w/tortilla chips or a whole wheat pita. I've also used it w/leftover baked salmon that I flaked.
1 mango, peeled, seeded, and chopped
3 tbsp red onion
2 tbsp fresh cilantro
1 tbsp olive oil
1/4 tsp. ground cumin
1/2 tsp salt
1/8 tsp cayenne pepper
1 can (6 oz) tuna (I like the albacore)
1 ripe avocado, pitted, pealed and diced
lemon wedges or lemon juice
just mix everything together, squeeze lemon on to taste. I always add the avocado just before I'm ready to eat cause it turns quickly.
I also recommend just trying to keep your mind open and try things, I used to only eat tuna, but over the last few years I've been trying other seafood, most I don't like but a few things I've been surprised by :)
I luv sushi too!! Actually you know what, I'll automatically reject any cooked fish (mostly) in its original shape .You know with it head and tail and bla..bla..bla. It just..I don't know..it make me sick.

Salmon is my favorite. Get a fresh filet and sprinkle with dill weed. Bake at 170 ish for 10-12 minutes. If you can afford the calories, take 1/2 - 1 tbsp mayonaise and mix in a tsp of dill to use as a sauce. Once the salmon is cooked, slather on the mayo sauce.
This is the only way I've gotten my husband to eat fish... aside from frozen, breaded fishsticks!
