Need a low calorie but yummy ice cream replacement?
Make smoothies with frozen fruit. They come out almost like soft-serve. And frozen bananas are excellent straight out of the freezer, even - I've never made the banana soft-serve, simply because I always end up just eating the frozen banana like an ice cream bar. Frozen grapes are really nice, too.
Also, invest in one of those little hand-cranked ice cream churns and make your own healthy ice cream at home. I've had great success with almond milk - it's definitely not the same as ice cream, but it's good in its own way, and at 40-60 cals/cup you can't really go wrong. Hey, you can even make your own rich, creamy, unhealthy ice creams - the ice cream maker makes limited quantities and is too warm to use after one batch, so it has built-in portion control, and the experience of making the ice cream yourself forces you to be more mindful when you eat it.
Or just keep eating real ice cream in sensible portions. Nothing wrong with the occasional treat. Maybe splurge on the really good stuff, like Haagen Dazs or something from a small local creamery, so you can really appreciate it and you'll have more incentive to slow down and savour it.
I just found these the other week- they're called Whole Fruit Smoothie Cups- super yummy and only 100 calories!
Unpeel a banana, wrap it in wax paper and freeze it. Cut it up and eat it as is, or blend it with milk for a soft serve-like treat. I like to add peanut butter, cinnamon and cocoa nibs.
Sorbet is pretty good.
I bought an ice cream maker a while back & have made some VERY naughty ice (Peanut butter, white chocolate to name a few) but there are other lower fat ice cream recipes too. Plus you know whats going in it. You can make sorbet with it as well - made a lemon one which is delicious! May try a raspberry one once I've finished my lemon batch.
ARTIC ZERO!!! 150 calories a whole pint, high protein, tastes and texture just like real icecream!! The cookies and cream and vanilla maple are my favorites!!
Artic Zero 150 calories in a pint no fat find it in health food store or google it and order online
I agree with the Arctic Zero recommendations. However, have you ladies experienced any, ehrm, flatulance issues when consuming a pint of this stuff? I'd say it's worth it, but it really seems to bloat me up when I eat a lot in one sitting!
^ I'm pretty sure Arctic Zero contains sugar alcohols, which can cause irritability, especially when consumed in large amounts.

No sugar alcohols. It's organic. INGREDIENTS: PURIFIED WATER, WHEY PROTEIN CONCENTRATE, ORGANIC CANE SUGAR, CHICORY ROOT, DUTCH PROCESSED COCOA POWDER WITH ALKALI, GUAR GUM, XANTHAN GUM, NATURAL FLAVORS, SEA SALT, MONK FRUIT CONCENTRATE.
Pretty sure it's the chicory root from what I've read on the internet.

Lol, I bought those exact flavors yesterday! I love Arctic Zero - if only it wasn't so pricey, maintenance would be so much easier.
Not exactly an ice cream replacement, but a yummy, healthy (and super simple) frozen treat I came up with: frozen fruit skewers! Just put chunks of raw fruit on a skewer and freeze. You can dust them with cinnamon or some kind of spice and drizzle them with melted chocolate if you like, too. I used peaches, apricots, mangoes, bananas, pitted cherries, and whole grapes on mine. The peaches came out a little hard and icy for my liking, but the other fruits all froze up nice and soft.

I see! It's not sold in Canada so I've only heard about this stuff on CC. Now I am curious... I wonder how they keep it low calorie with only
Chicory root is one of the ingredients in "fiber added" products, I do believe.
