My sons favorite oatmeal just happens to be one of your favorite flavor combination.

1 bannana choppes

2 servings prepared quick oats

2 tbsp peanut butter or nutella

1/4 cup plain yogurt

In small chopper blend the bannana and yogurt together

In microwave melt peanut butter until pourable about 10-15 seconds

pour each mix in small swirly streams into the oatmeal. think of the old quaker instant oatmeals that same with smirl syrups only healthier. You can stir it all together or enjoy taking spoon fulls and getting different levels of the mixes in each bite

My every-morning-for-about-2-years-and-I-still-l ove-it oatmeal:

  • 1/3 c dry oats (quick type) cooked 3 min with 3/4 cups water, on stovetop
  • 1/2 c EACH frozen blueberries and frozen raspberries, nuked in my eating bowl til juicy and hot - cover with a plate to prevent splatters!
  • Mix cooked oats into berries,  top with 1/3 cup Olympic 3.2% vanilla yogurt

Lately I have been melting in a tsp of coconut oil to it - yummy!  and I also have a hard-boiled egg and a coffee with half-and-half.  A yummy 444 cal breakie!

BANANA RAISIN OATMEAL

  • Half cup Old Fashioned Oats
  • 20 or so raisins
  • 1 sliced banana
  • 1 tablespoon of honey
  • skimmed milk -- enough to top off the bowl

Microwave the oats in a microwave-safe bowl with cup of water for 2 minutes.
Sir in remaining ingredients

CHOCOLATE PEANUT BUTTER OATMEAL

  • 1/2 packet chocolate chips
  • 1 tablespoon creamy peanut butter
  • 1/2 cup oatmeal

Cook oatmeal as directed. Stir in remaining ingredients.

Mix the oatmeal, sugar (or sweetener), choc chips, cinnamon, and just a dash of salt in a bowl.
Add half a cup of boiling water and stir. Let the oatmeal soak up the water...add more water until its the consistency you like your oatmeal.
Cut up the banana into slices and stir into the oatmeal

I just started eating this the other day for breakfast and I love it! It isn't really oatmeal but better! 1/3 cup oatmeal 1/3 cup wheat bran 1/3 cup oat bran 1 2/3 cup of water 1 tbsp maple syrup 1 small handfull of raisins sprinkle of cinnamon splash of milk (i use almond milk) In a large microwave safe bowl combine oatmeal, wheat bran and oatbran; add water and then microwave until it reaches the right consistency (about 5-9 mins). Mix in milk, maple syrup, cinnamon, raisins and whatever else you want!! This recipe is about 350 calories depending on what you use, plus it is LOADED with fiber and it is very delicious and filling! Enjoy (:

Protein Bread Banana Muffins

1 small ripe banana (mashed)

3/4 cup egg whites (about 5 large egg whites)

1/2 cup plain non-fat greek yogurt

3/4 cup oats

2 scoops vanilla protein powder

stevia (depending on your preference of sweetness)

1 tsp baking powder

1 tsp baking soda

1/2 tsp cinnamon

Preheat oven to 350 degrees F. I would advise using silicone muffin pans or silicone liners. Since there's no flour and only oats, these have a tendency to stick.

Mix all the dry ingredients.  Mix all the wet ingredients.  Combine and mix until somewhat smooth.  Divide mixture evening between the 12 muffin pan.  Bake for 15 - 18 minutes.

My favourite way of making oatmeal is to use plain quick oats: put 1/3 cup oats, 1/3 cup milk, 2/3 cup water and 1/2 sliced banana into a pot and place on the stove on medium. When it starts to bubble around the edges, use a spatula to "whip" the bananas so they dissolve into the oats but to leave some bigger pieces. Then when it's to my desired consistency, i add 1 tbsp ground flax, 1 1/2 tsp chia seeds, vanilla extract and cinnamon.

Then I top it with anything I wish; for example, fresh fruit, nut butter, toasted nuts, granola, coconut, dark chocolate chips, dried fruit, cottage cheese, greek yogurt, etc.

btw: this recipe is from www.katheats.com "whipped banana oatmeal"

This is one of the ways I like to use oats its an old Weightwatchers recipe.

Hi, I have just about every morning:  packet of instant oatmeal, Trader Joe's orange dried cranberries, slivered almonds and fat free milk.  Enjoy!

Mmmmm... Oats!

Thick rolled are a must:

I will rehydrate raisins in boiling water with vanilla, cinnamon, nutmeg, and clove. When the raisins are all fat I'll add the oats to the water, bring to boil, reduce to simmer. I cook my oats to al dente. Top with some real syrup and nice cool milk. Yum!

Steel cut are also excellent.
Morning favorite: Ice Banana 1c raw oatmeal Coconut milk or regular milk *Extra add ins Coco powder Unsweetened coconut Peanut butter Chocolate chips

throw everything you want in a blender. Blend till smooth and ENJOY!

I like to make my oatmeal with milk, but also have a sweet tooth so I used to add a little bit of flavored coffe creamer. Now I have discovered coconut milk. It has less calories than milk and has a little sweet taste because of the coconut. I also add dried tart cherries. It's really good.
I love adding fresh peaches to my oatmeal!

As much as I adore oatmeal, I don't like a hot breakfast in the summer, so I've started making chilled oatmeal parfaits. I cook up a big pot of loose oatmeal with water and milk (quick oats are ok in a pinch, but large-flake rolled oats are far better), let it cool, and then thin it to the desired pudding-y consistency with more milk. To make the parfaits, I spoon two layers each of oatmeal, plain yogurt and sliced fresh or frozen fruit into a serving-sized container. They keep in the fridge for a few days, so they're a perfect make-ahead breakfast for rushed weekday mornings. You can make them in mason jars instead of glasses if you want to  bring them with you for breakfast on the go. If you put them in elegant parfait glasses, they make a really nice, easy, healthy make-ahead dish for a large brunch with guests. They make a really nice dessert, too - like rice pudding, but not nearly as dense. I recently served some strawberry oatmeal parfaits to guests for dessert and they were very impressed.

HI, Friend I full agree with you. neltuneliel:

Chrissy, I may try this. I'm not a fan of bananas but my bf loves them. I'll probably do without the sugar. Cooked bananas are already kinda sweet on their own.

~I recently bought some steel-cut oats...has anyone ever cooked or baked with them? How long do they take to cook? Do I have to soak them?

I know this is recipes for oatmeal but I was wondering if anyone had any ideas for a low carb things to add to my oatmeal I buy the sugar free maple and brown sugar but I throw in some blueberries but was wondering if any one had any ideas of other stuff to throw in. If you want to do low carb, ditch the oatmeal altogether. It is essentially all carbs with no fat or protein.

If you must keep it, you can add protein by mixing in protein powder, egg whites, yogurt, cottage cheese or milk/soy milk.  And you can add fats by adding nut butters, whole nuts & seeds or coconut milk.

I love hit oatmeal mixed with almond butter and chopped up dates or raisins. Give it a try :)
One of my favorite recipes is a quick and easy pancake recipe. Combine 1/3 cup oats, a banana and egg. Fry batter in frying pan and top with fruit.

I just found a new favourite oatmeal recipe - black sesame oatmeal! I got some ground black sesame seeds from an Asian market, stirred a couple of spoonfuls into the oats (I use quick oats and just cook them in the microwave), and finished them with almond milk and sweetener. Delicious - tastes just like Chinese black sesame pudding, but lighter and less calorie-dense!

I microwave water to a boil Measure 1/2 cup dry old fashion oats. Pour water over and reheat 30 seconds Add cinnamon and xylitol 1 T

1/2 cup frozen blueberries with vanilla silk I love the coated berries 292 calories
