Tilapia Recipe...Golden Corral Style

Quote  |  Reply

Okay so last weekend I went out of state for the weekend. We had to eat out quite a bit so I had to find something healthy at each place we stopped. We ate at Golden Corral one eveing and I ordered tilapia as my main dish. It was so delicious I asked them how they made it. I made it at home last night. It's simple and delicious so I thought I would share.

Their way...

1. Heat garlic butter in skillet on medium heat until melted and sizzling.

2. Add one 4oz piece of tilapia.

3. Sprinkle both sides with cajun seasoning.

4. Cook evenly on both sides until fish flakes easily with a fork. (About 5 minutes on each side if completely frozen)

My Way

1. Heat 1 tablespoon of olive oil in skillet on medium.

2. Rub both sides of fish with minced garlic powder and cajun seasoning.

3. Add the 4oz piece of tilapia to skillet.

4. Cook evenly on both sides until fish flakes easily with a fork. (About 5 minutes on each side if completely frozen)

Nice. Try rubbing the seasoning into the fish before cooking, it has a better depth of flavour. Also you comment about butter being very fattening......just wanted to let you know that olive oil has more fat and calories than butter (butter is about 14% water and milk solids)...Try using a combination of both evo and butter......it's hard to beat the flavour of butter with fish.

Thanks for the info! I will make adjustments. :)

Thanks for the revised recipe for Tilapia!  I bought some quite a while ago.  It was vacuum sealed and flash frozen.  (Can't remember the abbreviation for that.)  I've been wanting to try something besides foil packets since it's too hot to turn on the oven.  I think this will be dinner for me tonight!  I just happen to have all of the ingredients, including the butter!  Yay, happy food dance here! Cool
