America! Employ me! Does anyone know someone who can offer me a temporary job!? Please help!

Hi everyone!

I'm Lindsay :) *waves*

I'm a fellow CC user and Scottish student and over the summer (June - September) I'm doing the Work America programme, so I am coming over to work for 4 months. I have to find my own work, accommodation etc. so I was wondering if anyone would be able to assist me in my job hunt! It can be anywhere at all. I'm open-minded.

So does anyone know of anyone, friends, family etc, or even your own workplace... who would be willing to take me on for this time? It doesn't have to be a family business, it could be Starbucks or a restaurant or cinema, anything! I have loads of retail experience and am really friendly and hardworking. Even if you personally don't know of anything, do you know where would be willing to take on temporary summer staff?

Thank you so much! :) xx

I don't where u r coming to in the US, but where your going do they have a water park or amusement park? I know they hire a ton of people for the summer you could look into that.

I think I have seen international students at Cedar Point amusement park in Sandusky, Ohio.  They have housing there as well for the students they hire.  You could also check Six Flags which consists of several major theme parks across the US.

I believe Disney has the same program as Cedar Point.  There are parks in Anaheim, CA and Orlando, FL. Here is a link to an article about jobs with Disney.

Good luck

Amusement/water park in New Jersey...they used to hire a ton of Irish students each summer, but think its now a much broader international crew:

If you come to Virginia you could also check Kings Dominion which is another amusement park. www.kingsdominion.com ; there is also a 6 flags in VA as well.

Awesome, thanks to everyone who's posted so far! I haven't decided on a place yet so anywhere is cool with me. Can anyone think of any other ideas other than amusement parks? :)

With unemployment as high as it is here,  its rough timing. Last summer was the absolute worst for summer jobs for young people, as they were competing with older experienced people desperate for any work right now - and I mean any work.  The parks are a good idea b/c their seasons extend beyond the time when US college students need to return to school, and is more in line with European schedules. So typically they will hire a specific percentage of int'l students regardless of economy to cover some potential gaps end of Aug/Sept.

I think Great America Theme Park hires international students: https://jobs.cedarfair.com/californiasgreatam erica/index.cfm

Allergy Remedies
Is It Possible to Go Natural?
The side effects of allergy medications keep some people from using them. Natural remedies can be a great alternative, but some are more effective than others.
