Has anyone heard these HCG radio ads?

They claim you can lose 2lbs everyday. I think this should be illegal. It is not only untrue but would be unhealthy. Do these radio ads make you as mad as they make me?

Last time we were in STL i heard them.  I about broke the radio I was so angry.

While looking up whatever the heck HCG means I found their site.  They are claiming it proudly on the front page.  Sounds criminal to me.

Now to find out what STL means...

Remarkably, even intelligent people buy into this claim.  Although I don't know what part of "500 calories a day" doesn't send everybody to the hills.  I feel faint just thinking of restricting myself to 500 cals/day!

My secretary has been on this diet for MONTHS despite my urging that it is unhealthy.  She has lost 20 pounds in 3 or 4 months.  The "diet" is unsustainable.  500 a day is a guaranteed diet you will cheat on.  I can't imagine what kind of damage she is doing to her body.  She is a smart girl in law school.  The people behind the hcg diet are criminals.

The commercials are on all the time out here. Generally tied to a Spa environment with a Dr. on staff (that can also provide lots of other aesthetically fixing services) where you will be pampered as you starve off your weight without "feeling" any damage. People I've known on it "feel GREAT!" and are so in love with the rapidity of the loss that they lose all sense.

I don't know anyone who started at a high weight who has kept it off. They all blame themselves when they can't stay on program. It's not the program it's their will power they say.

Eventually you have to live a normal life. What happens THEN?

A fool and their money are soon parted.

I don't listen to the radio, but I'm seeing the ads on this site on a daily basis, and that annoys me more than anything.

I have ad blocker plus so I don't see any ads on this site. I can't believe it is 500 cals a day.. what a joke.

There are approximately 15 people in my office currently on or have done this diet. They have all lost weight and most have kept it off. They can't have so many things, they live on apples most of the day. They cant have butter or oil or salt or so many things.  You are only suppose to be on the diet a max of 40 days or until you have lost 35lbs. then there is a six week "maintenance" period before you can start another round.

These people are dropping 1-2lbs a day and it is scary. One guy did the 23day one and lost 32lbs.  Also they have two gorge days before you start the diet where you are suppose to put on weight so the first two days you are on the 500 calorie diet your body has excess to get rid of.

The thought behind it is that it is suppose to re-teach your body how to break down energy and it suppose to teach your body to use stored fat first and then your food.

the two who started this all went to a doctor and it cost them $600 to do the 40 day program but now one of the guys up here is selling it to everyone. its crazy!!

oh also you cant do any activity that greatly increases your heart rate because you could have a heart attack. And it makes you really tired. your body is basically eating its self and working over time just to keep you alive!

So glad I am passed all that nonsense and have focussed on good nutrition rather than how much I eat - in fact the program that I am on now has me zig zagging depending on whether it's a workout day or not - between 1700 cals and just under 2000 cals - waiting to see if I need to adjust it but I am so glad - because even at CC recommendations of no less than 1200 but 1380 for optimal weight loss, I think my body adjusted and became efficient with less cals - so I am looking to re-set my metabolism and go from there.

It drives me NUTS when I see my friends on these fad style diets - especially ones that give you their own food that is bascially JUNK food portioned out - but I know that they need to see it to believe it - the journey is as important as the destination - if not more so!

"Well if my doctor is offering it to me, it must be okay.  I just wont move for a few weeks".

Ridiculous.

I was going to get up to go to the restroom, but I'm scared I may have a heart attack.  Better invest in some Depends!

I have a friend that has had great results with this.  There are several methods- injections, creams, under the tongue.  She lost 50 pounds in just a short amount of time and has kept it off now for nearly a year.

I asked her what she thought about restricting her calories so much and if she thought it was healthy.  Her synposis: for a short amount of time, yes, it's ok.  She eased back into eating the amount of calories she should have to maintain while also keeping up with her running schedule (which she's only recently started in the past year) and it's worked beautifully.  She also agrees it's not for most people because if you do cheat during the program, it's a wash.

I just thought I'd post this since someone close to me has been successful with this.

Anyone that pays a thousand bucks to starve themselves deserves whatever they get, and it will eventually be misery.  If you described that diet to anyone of sound mind and neglected the HCG part, they'd tell you you're **** crazy.  But oh man, synthetic HCG makes it perfectly fine.

The "craze" with it now is that the guy who developed the diet was fined several million bucks and forbidden from advertizing it for a few years because it's complete ****.

A lot of people I know did the diet, spent the thousand bucks on it, ate apples and grapefruit until they peed Juicy Juice and claimed they lost SOOOOOOOO much weight!  But.. you know.. I'm thinking all of the weight came out of their skull 'cause not a single one of those women look the slightest thinner.  When I bring this up many say they're simply bloated, but once they go back on their diet they'll be lookin' thin again!  And be back to acting bitchy from lack of food.

P.S.  The foods allowed in the diet, apples and grapefruit, are all sugar.

WoW I can't believe all those things you guys are saying about people on the diet. It seems incredibly crazy.

Allergy Remedies
Is It Possible to Go Natural?
The side effects of allergy medications keep some people from using them. Natural remedies can be a great alternative, but some are more effective than others.
