Biggest Loser
The biggest loser has been one of my favorite reality shows since there really aren't villains. Last night episode I was so disappointed in how everyone has ganged up on Tara. Tara strikes me as goal oriented, she's been kicking butt without being mean or spiteful. I was so happy when she made it across that finished line first with the extra weight.
I love Tara period... I think it's awesome that she's so determined, and I don't blame her for being mouthy... I actually think she's a pretty cool chick.
Kristin gets on my nerves for some reason. I wouldn't mind if she had to go home. Really, Tara and Mike are my favorites, though I don't mind Laura either. Everyone else is varying degrees of annoying.
I think Tara has the best chance to win the whole thing now that Sione is gone, but she's got a big target on her back!
Laura's flown below the radar most of the show, except the last episode, but I don't think she's lost enough weight to be a real threat to win.
I wouldn't mind seeing Tara win, since she's played the game pretty well on her own and really works to win the challenges. Kristen just seems to go along with whatever Ron says, sort of like what Amy did last season with Heba and Vicky.

that's the thing, right? when you look at the total percentages they've already lost, i think tara and mike are out of reach of the others.
I like Tara for what she's accomplished, but sometimes the things she says get to me. Mike has also played very well and I like Kristen's attitude a lot. If either of the three of them win, I'd be ok with it.
Ron has no chance of winning this so leaving him there is purely strategic. Helen, however, has the potential to be a real threat so hopefully she will go home next. Sione was a threat as well, but I still think perhaps Laura would have done better for her own interests in voting Helen off.
Harkening back to last week, I really wish Nicole had stayed. I think seeing her go against Tara would have been quite interesting.
aside: cute dog, kallie! australian shepherd?
Thanks, PG. Close, she is an Australian Cattle Dog.
I watched the show a couple of times, not enough to get me hooked. But I must say it is truly amazing the transformations that some of these people undergo
I like Tara fine, even when she speaks.
As for choosing between Helen and Sione... I was kind of hoping Laura would send Helen home. I thought Helen was a bit pathetic when she made her plea to Laura to keep her on the ranch. IMO Sione came across as much more sincere.
Although I don't care much for Ron, I was impressed that he managed that huge weight loss last week. Agreed that the makeover episode next week should be entertaining!
This is the first time I've watched Biggest Loser so I'm not sure what happens at the end, obviously someone is the BL, but is there some compensation for whoever lost the most and went home?
Ugh, I almost barfed when Kristen brought Laura breakfast in bed! Oh wait, there is one more thing I have to do... suck up to Laura so she doesn't vote for me!

There's two big prizes. The biggest is for the Biggest Loser (player out of the last three/four who loses the highest percentage over the whole competition). I think that's $250,000. There's another big prize for the At-Home Winner (eliminated player who loses the highest percentage from start to finish). I think that one's $100,000 Then there are smaller prizes for the rest of the final three/four. I think the at-home prize is mostly so that the contestants show up as thin as possible at the finale - and it frequently goes to someone who lost more weight than the actual Biggest Loser.

i thought it was funny. it would have been barf-worthy if she'd pretended it was altruism, but she was up front about her motives ;)

As far as Ron goes - why doesn't anyone on the show ever mention to him that he has a son at home who could really use his help? He said that to Aubrey (or was it Mandie?) about her father before he voted her off.
Amen Whitsc! It broke my heart to see his other son at home and alone in his struggles. It would be good for Ron to be at home to encourage him and be a good example. Ron is still so big, and the weight is coming off slowly, but I think he's doing such a great job given his physical set backs. Moreover, I think he's truly in this for his son Mike... I'd like to see him be there for his other son who also needs support. Like, maybe next week. ![]()
I loved the "Godfather" Montage last night... he is a manipulative game player, but he has a strangely calming / puppetteer type effect on people...
OK I love TBL and have been reading this thread for awhile now. First of all, I HATE RON!!! I've hated him ever since the "it's time for Mandi to go" episode. I mean, who gave him the authority to make the call every week on his team whose time it was to go? And then he kept coating his decisions in the whole "I think so and so has the support at home to continue, so and so still needs to be here" when it was 100% game play. When he was saying that anyone who voted for him to go home the previous episode can DIE, that was way over the top. He is in it to help Mike win, and that's it.
Speaking of Mike, I really need to break up some of this Mike lovefest that's going on here. What is it exactly that makes him cute?? He seems like a nice kid and I feel bad for him and his brother obviously being raised by Ron the enabler who raised them fat their entire lives. I wouldn't be totally mad if he won. But cute??? Can we talk about the acne for a minute?? It's out of control. He has no chin. Come on people.
I would have liked to see Helen go home this week over Sione because I think she is annoying and snively and mostly weak-willed, but Laura would have been stupid to kick her off over Sione who was the #2 in the house behind Tara. I like the Tongans both but I'm behind Felipe over Sione. He just seems so genuine. Yes, he can be annoying, but who isn't at some point? But I have to say, my ultimate favorite is Tara. She's tough, strong, determined, and very smart and strategic. Yes, she can be a bit cocky. But, she deserves to be...she's been schooling them this entire game.
kristen was upfront with the barftastic breakfast in bed thing, so i think it made it funny. i'm pretty sure even laura knew that it wasn't a sincere gesture.
and jafried - i hate to interrupt your shallow party...but i think i'm the only one in the mike lovefest...so i'd hardly call it a fest. and i also have no chin. and he's 18...acne is common in that age (and i've never really noticed it...is it truely that obvious?). not to mention that i was barely serious with my comments. i do think he's adorable though.
since when is game play a poor strategy for playing a game? i suppose forest gump should win?
i don't like ron, but at least he's engaged in the process.
The reason I like Mike is he is a good kid with a heart. How many 18 year old boys are as sweet and thoughtful as Mike seems on the show? Not many! And I have 3 younger brothers -- I think I can say that.
I also think he is totally cute. I wouldn't wanna date him, but I am literally twice his age. He just seems like a nice kid. That is why I like him. He has a lot of heart.
(BTW, I totally bawled on the episode where they went home, when I saw Mike's brother. I feel so bad for that kid. That is maybe another reason I don't like Ron at all. 1, irresponsible parenting, and 2, why did he go on the show instead of sending his son? I don't have kids but to me that seems pretty selfish. Right up there with Helen. Ick.)

i can't help but keep thinking the same thing. it's a GAME. a game with pretty huge things at stake. people are going to treat it as such. if i was there, i'd damn sure be playing it like a game.

jafried-I agree with you 100%! (except for the acne thing-I haven't noticed that) Cannot stand Ron. Don't really like Mike. I guess it is dislike by association because of my intense dislike of Ron and Mike always agrees with him. He has done some nice things, like giving away his phone call home, but I guess I cannot get past him being his father's son. I actually would love to see Mike sent home while Ron is left there. That would really piss Ron off and it would be great!!! I've liked Sione and Felipe from the start and still do. I was so happy to see Sione working to be a trainer. I hope he is successful. Would have rather seen Helen go, but I understand the decision.
Kristen really annoys me. Can't say exactly why.

I was happy about that too. And didn't Sione look hot?!?!?! He is adorable, I've always thought so but now is a totally hottie. So freakin' cute. I am going to miss him on the show. :(
I do not like Ron at all for pretty much the reasons everyone has already mentioned. He irks me. I like Mike but I do not think he's cute in any way shape or form. He did work my nerves when he jumped on the "hating" bandwagon where Felipe and Sione are concerned. I understand it was in defense of his dad but still.
As far as cuteness goes I think Sione is...most definitely. I've been sayin' it since day one. I love how he's come along in the updates. Good for him!!
Felipe...I liked him too but he has been lacking with pulling his weight it seems. He seems more talk than anything. It killed it for me when he went off on Jillian.
My favorites are Kristen and Tara...in that order. They're very opposite too. I love Tara's determination and competativeness and I love Kristen's logic and demeanor. I can't see her going anywhere either...she's perfect for their little product placement pieces. When she does them, they don't bother me for some reason.![]()
I was really bummed when Nicole didn't get to stay. I really wanted Tara to have some true competition. I hope Nicole wins the take-home thing.
