body fluid in hotel rooms, black light?
I saw the primetime special regarding body fluids found in hotel rooms. You know anything can happen in closed doors.
My family and I love to make small trips and we stay in hotels which are rated 3 stars or more... I had unfortunate experience of finding numerous hair, what seems like body hair!!!! YUCK! What seems like fresh sheets had all these hairs. DISGUSTING!!!
I'm not sure any hotel can guarantee a "BLACK LIGHT CLEAN". But during primetime special, it did mention that by staying between the white sheets should be clean of any body fluids. I'm fine with that!!!
But after that experience I am toying with the idea of purchasing a black light to make sure my sheets are really clean and hopefully the bathroom.
thought????
Also, bed bugs have gotten bad even at the 4 start hotels. We have our favorites we stay at so they know us and down have problem with sheets and stuff but at a new place, turn the sheet down off the mattress , turn light off for a minute and turn back on and look along the seam of mattress for black bugs, it you see them check out and empty you suit cases out side you house .
About the back light what are you going to do when you see all that yuck on the walls, and carpet they are going to come scrub your room.

never put your bags on the beds. easiest way to pick up hitchhiking bed bugs.
How does one look for bed bugs? Lift the mattress? Are they visible?
i've never seen them, but there were a few isolated cases in one of the building i lived in. the memo they sent out said that they're these flat, light brown bugs that are visible if you're looking for them. they're awful and terrible and apparently horrible to get rid of and a growing problem; a place doesn't have to be dirty to have them.
never get a used bed (one that you find outside, get on craigslist, etc) because once you have bedbugs, you're screwed. and like i said, if you put your luggage on an infested bed, they'll come home with you.
it's not a bad idea to vacuum your mattresses at home every so often (like two or three times a year)
i'm not a germophobe, i'm more of a germo-wiselycautious
and yes, it would be very unlikely that dried body fluid flakes would find their way into my body through an open sore while still carrying active disease, but still --
other peoples' dried body fluids = WAY ICKY! yuck! no thank you.
i strongly prefer to know the people (well) whose body fluids I choose to come in contact with... but hey, tha's jus' how i roll

Most hotels don't wash the comforters...but...
I'm a manager at a Hampton Inn and Suites, owned by Hilton, and I can at least say that our hotels are known for their cleanliness. We switched to completely new bedding, everything is white so you can even see how clean it is, and we have duvets that we take off and wash every single time! :) I think all Hilton properties do this...at least Hampton's.
RE: 26
One of the hotels I worked at was managed by Hilton. It was a Doubletree. Maybe they've changed their policy (it has been a few years) but the bedspreads were only washed about once a month when I was there.
However, they are now a part of WCH, instead of Hilton. So now who knows??
