one of the most effective ways i've found to stop myself from snacking all the time was to keep myself busy with one of the many crafts i enjoy. i love talking to people about the various things they make, so i was just curious what some of you are making.

myself? i LOVE knitting (so hard to eat with needles in both hands), crocheting, stamping, cardmaking, embroidery, and i want to teach myself to sew. i have a machine, just have no clue how to use it!

what do you do?

Un fortch I'm into cooking. Lol. But lucky, here I have no kitchen. So I have a recipe scrapbook. But it means I think about food all the time. I just hide my snacks away. :D
i actually am buying a stamp set that is made for recipes. i want to start collecting them and putting them in a box.
does having 1 quilt being pieced, one being quilted, one being planned and 2 cross stitch projects count as projects?  haha..

i don't like being tied down to 1 project at a time.. :)  i'm piecing a king size quilt for my bed in 30's prints, i'm quilting a quilt called the underground railroad code quilt (supposedly they are patterns used as code in the underground railroad) using civil war reproduction prints, planning a quilt for the guest room the old one is getting worn out

i agree with you too.. keeping projects going REALLY helps control the snacking bug!  :)
that sounds like me and my knitting projects. i have project ADD, i swear. i get bored when i'm working on something for too long, so i always have a ton of stuff going.

and i've heard about that underground railroad quit, actually. i read a book called "sweet clara and the freedom quilt" i think. it was a children's book about it. i think it's fascinating! and 30s fabric! oooh!
oh thank goodness i'm not the only one!  it does spice things up when there's more than one thing going.. :)

i've never heard of that book.. i'll have to look for it.. i am going by the patterns from the quilt in a day series.. :)  i just actually painted my bedroom in 30's prints colors.. because i already have 1 quilt on my bed in those fabrics (my mom made it) and i'm making one.. so i figured what the heck!  yup.. i'm decorating around fabric.. can we say obsession?  heh..

i've never knitted.. but my grandma did.. and i always thought she looked like she was having fun doing it.. i don't remember ever seeing her without her yarn and knitting needles in her hands.. ahh.. good memories.. :)
haha! i think that's great that you're decorating around fabric. 30s print fabrics are so great that you HAVE to decorate around them.

oops.. double post.. heh

that purple is FANTASTIC. i love it, and i don't usually like purple. i can't wait to see pictures of the quilt!
so this is what it takes to get ob in the forums!!! LOL

I envy you guys!  I am too nervous to do stuff like that!

I used to cross stitch alot, before kids.... once I left some stuff out and our dog at the time, got my 1.5 inch needle and swallowed it.  I have not sewn since!  if I sew a button on I wait til the kids go to bed and I go in the bathroom and  sew it!  Sad I know.

One day I will get brave and attempt something crafty! once I find time!
I love to bead.  I love beading peyote stitch patterns and also making pen covers, Creditcard/business card covers.  I love to bead necklaces and other things, It very relaxing for me.  I don't get to do much now but I collect patterns I will do in the future
Hey guys. I am a crafter. I knit, crochet, sew, cross stitch , quilt a little, whatever.

My currrent projects are knitting baby blankets for the babies in the NICU where my DD works.

There is a limit to how many pairs of mittens or afghans anyone in my family wats or needs. LOL

I don't cross stitch too much anymore. My eyesight is not so hot with that now that I have bifocals.
heh.. yeah.. talk about crafts and stuff and i'm all over it! :)

the purple did turn out great in person.. but the green is SO much better in person than the pictures show.. :)  i should get new pictures up in a couple of weeks once the head board is delivered and set up.. :)

i think that we all should share pictures of our craftiness.. (is that a word?  hah)  :)  i love looking at and getting ideas from others.. :)  and ohhing and ahhing over them is fun too.. :)
People speaking my language!  Hurray!!!

I love to needlepoint.  And I have about 8 different canvases that I am working on right now.  I just finished a big one (12x12) for my neice, who just turned 13.  It is very whimsical and has a heart in the center with wings.  I love it and need to get it turned into a pillow for her.  I usually do much smaller things, Christmas ornaments to be specific.  I've gotten started on those and then am working on a canvas for my sister and another for my sister in law.

I crochet and enjoy tatting.  I used to cross-stitch but find needlepoint more diverse.

And it is great for keeping the fingers busy and out of food at night!!!
Add me to the list!!!  I LOVE to cross stitch.  Knitting and scrapbookin are the other things I like to do.  I am in the middle of a huge cross stitch piece right now....usually have more than one project going but my last few have been finished up and I just want to stick with one for awhile.  :)
I make beaded jewelry with seed beads... earrings, anklets, chokers, necklaces things like that
i knit and crochet. my attention span is horribly low lately, so i still with relatively small projects (stuff for my 3.5 year old to wear).
Oh, and i've made 3 purses already, and my favorite one (flagrantly red oversized tote with large white flower and white handles) is garnering a lot of compliments...
in general, keeping my hands busy helps keeping them out of cookie jars...
my goal when i got home tonight was to organize my room and make a craft corner, and then i realized i simply don't have the space. my yarn stash is growing daily, my boyfriend's mother keeps giving me old stamp sets she doesn't want. i think i need my own house for all this stuff!

i'm about to embark on my newest project. a rug knit from sheet scraps. i saw it in my knitting calendar and i just have to try it!
I knit, crochet, cross-stitch.... I've been making scarves, mostly, for the past year+ for fundraising for ALS, and have a stash of yarn still to get through as a result. Got some very nice yarn from my fiance for Christmas, too, that I will do something with, and when I went into my favorite Ithaca yarn store, I saw that they had a yarn that I really like on sale -- the last one or two skeins in different colors left in their stock -- and bought it all.

I also do paper crafts and play with clay. Calligraphy, too, sometimes (such as now, and should I ever again decide to handwrite wedding invitations in copperplate, someone shoot me, please). I love paper. My best friend once brought me a paper catalog, gave it to me during a rehearsal, and I was unable to sing for the duration... too much drool. :-D
