CC now advocating McDonald's.

Is everyone OK with this? No one has an issue with this but me?
:( What else can I say?
Well, I don't think CC should promote eating fast food... but at the same time, fast food is quite integral in so many people's lives. Maybe not for you, but I do eat fast food from time to time. I don't see any issue with it -- if people wanna eat fast food, it is ultimately their own responsibility. I hope people know it's not good for their bodies and people should always know what they put into their mouths.

Not sure I'd call it advocating..maybe just kind of a survival guide for those who find themselves on the run a lot and need smarter choices?
They are advocating - they are specifically highlighting it as a viable option for you and your family.
There is no excuse, NO EXCUSE to eat trash like that. I'd rather go hungry, and I wouldn't even feed it to a dog.
I don't have an issue with the blog entry... I mean, heck, fast food has calories in it too.
And some people will never stop eating fast food. I, personally, find McDonald's revolting... but will do a Steak N' Shake run on occasion. Sometimes life just gets in the way and I can't look at another salad that day. Or I'm craving the greasy fattiness of the burger with the sloppy condiments and sub-par veges they use... either way, it happens.
I haven't had limbs fall off or my head explode from this action yet... my healthy eating plan (even mostly organic) picks right up the next day, and all is well.
So, I guess I'm of a notion that teaching folks to eat the "right" things from the places they will continue to visit (to remain on calorie track, if not health), isn't such a bad thing.

I think some people should get off their high horses.
I'd rather people know that there are foods that won't overshoot their calorie target, even when their only option is a place like McD's, rather than believe that their choices are limited to eating a BigMac or going hungry.
The article explains itself in the first line: As much as we hope fast food is not a part of our everyday fare, we calorie counters and our families may pick up something from the drive thru at some point.

I miss Big Macs.
I was a miffed that this article didn't include KFC.
I wonder if the CC article's sponsored by McDonalds, Subway and the likes. I love KFC too occasionally but maybe they don't pay the $ to be mentioned? :/
NO no no no no.. that wouldn't be nice..I think CC may consider KFC a lost cause.. BUT I DO NOT!!! They do have corn on the cob.. and green beans (sometimes)..
What I don't get is that add that pops in sometimes that says "don't ever eat these foods" and then there is a sketch of a banana.. I just don't get that..
healthy eating is enjoying all kinds of food free of guilt, and in moderation. It's possible to include mcdonalds in a healthy diet and lifestyle, especially in modern living when 'fast' is the expected pace. An obsession with healthy food and avoiding all 'junk' is disordered eating, there is even a name for it; 'orthorexia'.
Food is fuel and nothing more, please don't attach sin or virtue to it.
If you enjoy Mcdonalds enjoy it and enjoy other healthy foods and exercise. If you don't then don't eat it, but don't shame other people's choices.
if you compare fast food brands KFC comes out top in terms of sodium and saturated fat. This will be why they didn't advocate KFC.

Some people are just not interested in cutting fast food out of their lives completely. Like me. You'll have to pry my In-N-Out burger out of my still-warm, cardiac-infarcted hand.
hehehe...she said infarcted!

If I could share ONE thought on healthy eating/weight loss, it would be this. The food you eat does not make you a good or a bad person. Thinking like that leads to guilt, self-loathing and a seriously unhealthy relationship with food and your body.
Thank you for pointing this out.

This.
By the looks of the blog, it looks like they tried to pick the healthiest options too. Instead of just saying "1 cheeseburger, value fries" etc they chose "Premium Caesar Salad with Grilled Chicken & Fruit n Yogurt Parfait."
Just my opinion though.
It seems like you are on a high horse. You shouldn't judge what other people eat.
I don't see much problem with it at all. I have a friend who works at a health care facility that only makes meals for patients. The only places around to eat are fast food. There is no refrigeration for staff use and she works a 12 hour shift and doesn't usually get to eat until about 8 hours in. There are enough people who live that kind of life where their options for food are limited, so why not talk about the lesser evils that exist in fast food places? We live in a world where so many people have fast-paced lives, or 30 minute lunch breaks, etc. And let's not forget that there are plenty of fast food meals that are still significantly less bad for you than a similar meal at a place like Applebee's. The idea is to train yourself to eat the healthiest things you can no matter the situation, even if that means eating at a McDonald's sometimes.
