Is everyone OK with this?  No one has an issue with this but me?

:(  What else can I say?

They are advocating - they are specifically highlighting it as a viable option for you and your family.

There is no excuse, NO EXCUSE to eat trash like that. I'd rather go hungry, and I wouldn't even feed it to a dog.

That's a little harsh, isn't it?  I agree that fast food is unhealthy and shouldn't be a regular part of ones diet, but a little bit here and there certainly doesn't hurt.  I eat healthy foods all the time, and I enjoy them thoroughly, but there are times when nothing will satisfy like a big old cheeseburger with the works and some french fries.  It just tastes good.  Maybe you don't think so, but many people do, otherwise there wouldn't be all these fast food places.  Moderation in all things is the key.

Edited to add:

Look at the first sentence:  "As much as we hope fast food is not a part of our everyday fare, we calorie counters and our families may pick up something from the drive thru at some point."

They're not advocating, they are acknowledging that sometimes fast food happens.

Yeah but if people will eat fast food then this is why more than half britains kids are overweight and In the future there will just be fattys and chavs

I don't think a meal of fast food here and there is going to make them fatty's.

*eyeroll*

Also, some of the people who use this site need to gain weight.  McDonald's isn't the best food choice, but if it will get them to eat, yay.

NO no no no no.. that wouldn't be nice..I think CC may consider  KFC a lost cause.. BUT I DO NOT!!!  They do have corn on the cob.. and  green beans (sometimes)..

KFC also have GRILLED chicken (much better for you and tastier than the fried). Combine with beans and corn and it's a pretty decent meal that is more healthy than other "fast" options out there.

All comes down to calories anyway.

Forgive me if this has already been mentioned, but I do a fair amount of work related traveling.  Although I would prefer cleaner foods prepared in a healthier manner, sometimes I'm at the mercy of what's around...  and starving myself isn't an option because there is nothing more embarrassing than a loud stomach growl during a presentation when you're trying to get people to take you seriously.

Although I avoid fast food as much as possible, I like knowing the healthiest options at establishments like this.

Yup.  I can't even begin to tell you how many time "Eat This Not That" has saved my ass from being large!

Exactly!  And if I'm craving a burger and fries I can certainly have it as long as I allow for it and it's not an every day thing!

I wonder if the OP has such strong feelings about it because of pink slime...

Although, didn't I read recently that McDonalds was going to stop or had stopped using pink slime?

It's like, now that people became aware that they were eating pink slime, the restaurants were like, OK, OK we'll just use meat. Sheesh.

It all has way too much sodium though.  They have to put a lot of salt in there because otherwise, you'd be able to taste what you're eating.

:)

What, people aren't being swayed by the efforts of Rick Perry to educate people about the nutritional benefits of lean finely textured beef?

Come on, they even have t-shirts!

Ha! Indeed.

And thanks for the pink slime reminder. The Big Mac craving incited by this thread is killed at least.

:)

I love the Big Mac. I graduated from eating at fast food places a lot, and having the Big Mac, Fries and Milkshake to just having the Burger. And I love that burger.

I don't have it every night, or even every week, or even every month. But if I feel like going to McD, I'll have that Big Mac.

On the topic of fast food places making people fat... it's pretty depressing to know that it's cheaper to raise your family on fast food than having to buy real food. Add to that people having to work double shifts to get by, and easily you turn to the "easy" option of cheap fast food. The kids like it, you like it, no dishes, no grocery shopping.

:k

i was actually eating a healthy lunch, clicked on your second link nomo, and proceeded to feel ill.

i just trashed my lunch.

Grossing myself out was one of the first weight loss tactics I tried when I first started on this site lo, so many years ago.

It still works!

:D

Yes.. that's why I like KFC.. they do give you options.. and the grilled chicken is really good too... but there is nothing in the world that compares to the original or... dare I say it... EXTR CRISPY...

Our local KFC is 28 miles one way.. not much danger of too many dinners there..

How about a pizza?

Really disappointed in the American FF industry.  I mean, come ON - how is it that we didn't think of that already!

While we are a fast food bend.. I actuallly entered the Jack in the Box bacon milk shake as a custom food.. I don't understand why I can't find it on the food database...

Corn Dogs are as far as I want to go into enrobed weiner territory...
