Morning Doc & KJ, this is a perfect segway into my journal entry today. Check it out when you get a minute. Nothing ground breaking but I think it has some merit.

mornin'. :)

Ma'am.

*reads Kev's journal*

Hey old-timers (*looks at KG*):  HK once had a long post somewhere which meted out CC Classic's philosophy regarding how to lose weight.  It got into deficits and starvation mode and all that fun stuff.  Anyone know what happened to it?

Yep, like I said, nothing ground breaking but it's difficult for me personally to consider that I may have actually put myself into "starvation mode" while consuming 2,000 calories per day. Maybe we need to sort of intermediate term, short of "starvation mode" (Shuler calls it "stasis").

calorie-count.com diet

although I'd take it with a grain of salt. HK didn't like logging.

Looks like another slow day...?...

thanks for the link, and good morning KG!

Kev, this is the question that I have been asking.  I supposed I would have to go find a place that would test me so I actually know my RMR.

I think you can get a "fairly" accurate number from any online calculator. My scale puts my "BMR" at about 2,000 which falls in line with the online stuff.

Looks like he took the stuff pretty seriously.

I think the older you get, too, the more out of whack you are with BMR calculators.

Heh.  I'd forgotten that he didn't like logging.  Kind of funny, since isn't the formula in there about calories consumed - calories burned = deficit?

I'm pretty skeptical of caloric deficits myself.  Here's why.  What has worked and still works for me is to go by the CC Classic's calculation of what I should eat every day to lose weight (1700 calories) and basically disregard whatever exercise I do in terms of what additional calories I might have burned.  Every time I eat more because I've calculated some sort of deficit, I gain weight.

hey guys. d'ya know what I find amazing? CHAT is usually about any old topic except calories and weightloss, isn't it? and on the one day where I for once have an issue with that it is suddenly discussed on here. weird. any yes, KG, it is a slow day - to put it nicely. anyone anything uplifting for me??

For the first 2 months of logging I lost weight in exact correlation to 1 pound per 3,500 calories deficit. It was absolutely amazing. Since I reached what I consider to be a healthy weight, any deficit planning and calculations can be thrown out the window. Last time I checked I should now weigh about 112 pounds.

Allergy Remedies
Is It Possible to Go Natural?
The side effects of allergy medications keep some people from using them. Natural remedies can be a great alternative, but some are more effective than others.
