This is a weird first post to the Lounge, but I have been lurking for a while :). Anyway, I'm going to hair salon next week to get my hair highlighted or maybe dyed for the first time and I don't know what color I should go with. Anyone have any ideas? DH thinks blonde but I'm not sure. Thanks
I used to dye my hair blonde and it's difficult to get it to look natural and, because the regrowth is more obvious, it's expensive to keep up.
I'd go a couple of shades lighter than your own colour to start with and see how you feel from there
yeah, I have naturally brown hair... bleached it blonde in my late teens/early 20s. I looked like crap. I don't recommend it.
Blonde or honey highlights would look great though :) The way they do it a touch down from the root makes it look way more natural. You look like you already have beautiful hair so maybe not a full color that could damage the hair anyway, but definitely highlights.
Maybe a little lighter but more towards a Strawberry Blonde or even reddish. Let your Irish Shine through!
Check with your hairdresser. See what she recommends. She'll probably have samples to show you, so you can even see what would match.

Just kidding. If Bork can rock multi layered neon socks, you can certainly comment on hair color.
Definitely watch out for going too light...I recently had need for a wig and I was DYING to be a blonde. However, when I tried on the blonde wig, I looked so bad. I actually went darker and got so many compliments.

This is what I used when trying to decide if I should dye my hair red. It was really fun! Upload a photo of yourself and it gives a pretty good idea of what you would look like. Plus it's fun to play with!!!! If you go lighter, definitely invest in a colour shampoo and conditioner from the salon to protect the colour you just spent a ton of money on. And find a good spray, leave-in conditioner with sunscreen to help with fading, too. Have fun!

I revoked nothing. I just expressed surprise that THEY'D let you keep it.
I agree, though. Little steps to make sure you'll like it, and I wouldn't go too light if you've never colored before :) I'd try highlights. Those look awesome on most people.
