Cougars, Pumas, and Saber-tooths, oh my!

Quote  |  Reply

According to urbandictionary.com:

puma:  A hott girl between the age of 25-35, 35-45 is a cougar, 45 and above is a saber-tooth

I've been calling myself a puma since I met my boyfriend in November.  He's 24, and I'm 29.  I was under the impression that a puma is a woman who dates a man younger than her by fewer than 12 years, while a cougar is a woman who is more than 12 years older than the object of her [sexual] affections.  I'd never heard of a saber-tooth, though!

So what are your thoughts on big cats, predatory women, and dating younger men?  :D

A bunch of dirty old women.

I officially despise the urban dictionary.

I like your definition better.  I'd hardly call Demi a sabre tooth.

Call puma 5-10 years, cougar 10-20 and sabretooth anything more than 20.  That makes sense to me.

I think that the assignation of an numerical age to the different categories is asinine.  I mean, by that rationale, if I stay with N until I'm 35, I become a cougar, even though he's no younger than me than he ever was?  That's stupid.

younger guys, like 19-22 age hit on me pretty frequently. i'm then met with a look of shock (horror?) when i tell them my real age.

i find it amusing :p

RAWR!

Too bad there aren't equally annoying labels for men who date younger women. A guy has to date a woman 20 years his junior to even approach dirty old manhood...

And now it's a new TV show.

I had to laugh!

I'm long past sabre tooth stage.  I guess you'd call me a declawed old pussycat.  I no longer have the slightest interest in any men, of any age, except as friends.  I'm finding that I now have more male friends than ever and really enjoy their company much more than when my libido led the way.

My closest relationship has lasted 25 years next February We were so romantic for years.  Now that's all gone and so is any tension in our relationship.  I feel true love with no strings and a sense of being truely loved for myself.  (I'm 67 & he's 75)

All you need to do to reach this comfortable stage in life is live long enough.

Wink

That's true, Kathy... double-standards always suck.  Even though Nick and I are really well-matched, I still feel a bit apprehensive when I tell people for the first time that he's 5 and a half years younger than me.  People judge.

And yes, I did just use 'dirty old manhood' in a sentence. :P

Actually, Kathy, there is: Cradle Robber.

Awesome.  I do feel loved for myself, but still hope I'm lucky enough to achieve this comfort level!  :)

i call em Mugars! i once called a Mugar a Mugar, to his face.

what does 'Mugar' stand for, Jules?

I'm guessing "Man-Cougar."

Ah yes, that makes sense.

Evidently all one has to do is admire a youthful man to be labelled a 'cougar'. Now I ask you...is that, at all, fair? One does so appreciate aesthetics, after all.

haah yes, Man-cougar!

i suppose it should be Mougar!

I think you have to do more than just admire a younger man to earn the label of Cougar.

Split told me just this morning that there are such things as virgin courgars...but then he is Canadian...

My wife is almost 7 years my junior, what would be my designation?

Allergy Remedies
Is It Possible to Go Natural?
The side effects of allergy medications keep some people from using them. Natural remedies can be a great alternative, but some are more effective than others.
