We rescued a little Dandie Denmont mix this year and she is now going to be featured in the yearly rescue calendar. Her story will be featured also. Lacey has fit into our family so wonderfully - now we have two Dandies and a Shih Tzu -all rescued.
If any of you are thinking about getting a doggy for Christmas, please check out rescue sites.
We have had our rescue dog for over ten years now- and she was an adult when we got her. She won't be with us much longer I'm afraid. She is a German Shepherd and this winter has not been easy on her so far. Bratt has always been an outside dog, but now she spends almost ALL her time inside laying by the front door watching the family activity. :-(
On the other hand, we rescued a reindeer calf this Fall and acquired another to be his buddy. The rescue is doing okay- still not 100%, but much improved. The buddy deer is such a lover. He gives kisses and shakes hands. It is actually kind of difficult to clean out the pen, because he is always in your face.
Rescues are AWESOME!
How cute. A reindeer! :D Right near Christmas too.
Did you give them names?
I'm sorry about your doggie. :( It's so hard to watch them slowly disappear. :(
*wants to shake hands with a reindeer*
One of the deer has lost both of his antlers for the winter, the other only has one antler left. All of Santa's reindeer are girls, 'cause they don't shed their antlers before Christmas. Ours, however, look silly right now!
Their names are King Henry and King Benjamin. Benny is the goof, and Henry is fighting to recover his health. I had hoped to rehabilitate and then send them back to the farm, but everyone is getting attached. They will probably end up staying. My daughter showed a leased reindeer in 4-H last year, and wants to take Benny to the fair this year and do some Ag in the Class demos with him.
We have gotten in DEEP!
Aww that's so sweet. :)
I hope Henry fully recovers!
