I've always wanted to go.

I want to be one of those women in a big hat and all dressed up!

Anyone here been?  Any stories?

I got to march in the parade for the derby when I was in high school, but we weren't actually allowed at the track.

Maybe some day I will be rich and can go.

ETA:  Changed the title so people know what I'm talking about ;)

I read this as "Derp day is tomorrow."

Derby.  Got it.  Never been.   Want to go, if for no other reason than to own a cool hat.

What is it about the hats?  I mean... let's be honest....  they are old lady hats, but they are just sooooooo awesome!

This one's for you, Star

eta: credit to Mamagator, it was in the link she posted.

I love Derby Day! I'll be watching. I always say I'm going every year and forget. I live about 2 hrs away. I'm putting that on my bucket list, maybe next year.

Whoa - The Derby and Cinco de Mayo are on the same day!?

*rushes to make one bad ass hat*

hahahahahahahaha

This made my night. Thank you.

I know this post is old but...I used to attend Preakness. It's held in Baltimore City at Pimlico Race Grounds. It's the 2nd race in the triple crown. Anyway the cheap seats are 20-25 bucks. But you're in the infield, which is like a big area but I don't think there are actual seats. You just mill about. But pretty big name bands come and play in the infield. I bought the mid level seats in the grandstand ( I believe thats what it was called)I paid $75 per ticket and we sat on wooden type bleachers with seats on them and we had overhead coverage from the sun etc...Basically the kids and 20-something's go to the infield, most older folks get the better seating. I have never attended the Derby or the Belmont Stakes but I will one day. I remember in 1998 when Real Quiet almost got the triple crown only to lose by a hair to Victory's Gallop. I want so badly to see a triple crown winner in my lifetime!
